The ambience here is very welcoming. I arrived at night and the many small rooms comprising the lobby were full of tiny lit candles and comfy chairs, one with a chess set at the table. The bedrooms are claustrophobic, but charming with old-world wallpaper and four-poster beds.
Unfortunately, location-wise, you’re right in between two Metro stops, easily a 15-minute walk in either direction. And if you bring a car, they have seven parking spaces! But they let you park at the Courtyard by Marriott a couple of blocks away for the same price of $30! Not too convenient, especially in the rain. And as adorable as the lobby is, there’s no bar or restaurant, so that may be why the chairs look so new.
They play up the Dupont Circle restaurants, and they are great, but they’re six blocks away. It’s nice if you have business at one of the embassies nearby, but as a tourist, I wouldn’t stay there.Recommended for:Business Travelers

This is one stately little place. A quiet and well adorned lobby welcomed me when I arrived and the staff was quick to assist me. I'll say off the bat that I thought the lack of a fitness room would really bother me, but I was wrong.
The Normandy offers every reason to just stay in the room and relax. The rooms are comfortable and attractive, and they boast some really cool features. I was impressed they leave an espresso machine in the room for guests to make use of, and a dataport in the room allows guests to project their tablet/smart phone onto the television (great if you're a Netflix person) or your own music throughout the room. Great touch.
I was also very impressed with a solid mix of indoor and outdoor lobbies, as well as the treats and beverages that the Normandy has on hand for anyone around. If you want to head out, the hotel is situated near some great nightlife and restaurants down in Adams Morgan.
The whole experience made me feel pampered and relaxed, and needless to say I didn't miss the fitness center at all!
