Lovely beachside property in the very convenient Seminyak area. Rooms feel Balinese but with all of the comforts of an international luxury property. The pool villas are highly recommended. Easy walking distance to great restaurants. Convenient without feeling trashy like Kuta.

The Oberoi is one of Bali's classic resort destinations. Built nearly entirely of coral rock, the expansive grounds cover an impressive track of beachfront property, and offer a quiet world of gardens and escape from the hustle and bustle of adjacent downtown Seminyak. The interior of the rooms are what really win me over with the Oberoi. Unlike much of the resort (which now feels a little a dated and possibly in need of renovation), the rooms are decked out with every modern amenity and comfort imaginable. The Oberoi definitely lives up to its reputation and standards of excellence inside your private space. Unfortunately, I'm not sure this makes up for the overall sensation of staying in your grandfather's resort, as the public areas of the resort made me feel. Worst of all is that the distances between the private villas can be ridiculously long, making it a real trek to enjoy the beach, pool, restaurant and bars - or much less, leaving the property altogether. So, definitely mixed emotions, but if you're looking for an extremely comfortable place to lay your head, the Oberoi delivers that.Recommended for:Luxury Travelers
