The Palmer House Hilton

17 East Monroe Street, Box 75845, Chicago, IL 60603
4.5
29 reviews

Aside from housing the rich and famous during the 1893 World's Fair, the Palmer House also shares another piece of history with the exhibition. It was here that a pastry chef was charged with creating a new confection to wow fair-goers, resulting in the birth of the brownie. The hotel still serves their chocolate creation at their in-house Lockwood Restaurant.

This place has such charm! From the sweet decor of the rooms to the actual key you use to open your door. Great location with just a few minute walk to millennium park and buckingham fountain. Found this gem on Hotwire hot deal. Valet parking was $54 overnight. Other parking garages are $40 nearby but don't offer valet with unlimited ...

Located in the Majestic Building, this hotel is beautiful from the inside out. Framed playbills and Broadway scenes line the lobby and breakfast area walls to celebrate the hotel's shared habitation with Chicago's Bank of America Theatre. From the valet parking workers to the sales representatives, everyone at the hotel was incredibly welcoming and made sure to greet me with ...

This hotel is charming. The building is a historic landmark (I believe it was built in 1897) that overlooks the elevated train on Jeweler's Row. I loved the lobby's decor, but one of the employees told me that they're likely going to be redesigning it soon. They're opening a restaurant on the first floor in the next month or so, ...

The vibe here is business professional, but the outgoing staff made me feel right at home. Rooms are spacious and well appointed. The first thing I noticed about the Doubletree was the hot pink wall right when you walk in the lobby. It's so bright and gives the hotel a fun, playful vibe. A glowing blue bar packed with people also contributed to the funky ambiance, while a grand staircase leading to the meeting rooms and banquet halls kept it feeling luxurious. ...

The Essex Inn is a gem! I've seen their bright red sign from Grant Park hundreds of times, but never thought to look inside. I'm so glad I did. On Michigan Avenue, it's easy to overlook this smaller hotel for some more recognizable names. But it's a better value and the interior is nearly as nice as its neighbors. Like ...

I was a little bit confused about how to get to this hotel from the outside since you have to walk down alongside the river quite a ways, but it's a lovely, scenic walk past the Merchandise Mart Hall of Fame and the Chicago River. I've always loved the bridges that connect the city over the river so I didn't ...

Directly linked to the North Bridge shopping center (with 50 stores, a Nordstrom, and 20 restaurants), you don't even need to step outside to shop Michigan Avenue, which is a serious perk during the harsh Chicago winters. Rooms are nicely sized, decorated in a neutral palette of whites and tans. The hotel offers free WiFi, a rarity for upscale lodging, ...

By simply looking at this hotel, it doesn't appear to have anything really special about it, but considering everything that's included, I'd definitely say it's one of the best offers in the city. First of all, you're right in the heart of River North, the city's foodie heaven and nightlife hot spot. It's not as posh as some of the ...

Stepping back out to the streets of the city on a sunny day, it took a little while for my eyes to adjust from the low lighting throughout the Courtyard by Marriott Chicago Hotel. I love this hotel. It doesn't seem that they do enough as far as awareness because I never hear of anyone staying here when visiting Chicago. The fact that it's not overly crowded is one of my favorite things about it though. The decor in the hotel is what sets this one apart. Expect exceptional service from top to bottom.

There's a lot going on at Hotel Allegro--a different decor around every corner; 3 restaurants; free coffee, tea, and cocoa; a nightly wine reception in the main lobby; Starbucks at the street level entrance. The JW Marriot is Prime Time. This huge, extravagant hotel features more than 500 rooms, and it feels like no expense was spared in the construction of this behemoth. Grand staircases, huge chandeliers, marble everything—this hotel has it all. The downstairs-lobby bar bustles, while other hotels often have an empty-ish bar. The location is excellent. Water taxi nearby, magnificent mile just a few steps away. Keefer's restaurant just a few minutes away. Nothing to complain about the hotel - just a normal business hotel. Wifi availability was not good around the hotel conference areas. The conference areas were a maze with some places quite far apart.
