I first went to this hotel for its Aveda Spa—it’s well-priced and always smells heavenly. I also love that the spa sells a full range of Aveda products in travel sizes. But I’m hankering for an excuse to stay at the hotel itself—the rooms are large and have a lovely mix of green and white fabrics and dark wood finishes. It’s a continuation of the grand, island plantation home feel that you get when you first walk into the huge lobby downstairs. The backyard is just as spacious, with a palm-ringed pool, a tiki bar, cabanas and even a little herb garden that belongs to Essensia, the Palms’s restaurant which is getting more of a farm-to-table menu under its new chef. Sitting on the patio, surrounded by greenery, with fans spinning overhead, made me feel like I was in the Caribbean. I love the beauty and peacefulness of The Palms.

The Palms Hotel offers charm not usually found in Miami Beach. For a somewhat large resort, the hotel has maintained a cozy, intimate feeling, while still providing all the amenities you would expect from a luxury resort. The grounds are absolutely breathtaking. The pool and pool bar are fantastic, and the beach is just on the other side of the boardwalk. For cocktail hour, the back patio is warm and inviting, and the lobby bar is sleek and contemporary. The rooms are modern, clean and comfortable. The bathrooms are a bit small, but the toilet and shower/bath areas are separate, for added convenience. If there wasn't so much to do in Miami, I could easily find myself lost in relaxation at the Palms for days on end.

The name “The Palm” just screams luxury and I can honestly say this hotel offers a lavish experience throughout your entire stay. This sophisticated hotel located in the beachfront offers everything from pools to spas, restaurants and bars, to fitness centers and scuba diving. You truly have access to it all when you stay at this flawless hotel.

Would love to love this place, but walked away simply liking it. They're going for a tropical plantation feel in the interior, but they don't quite pull it off due to the imbalance with art deco influences and poor lighting. The reception area is flat out dimly lit and the lovely wicker ceiling fans overhead almost seem a wasted effort. Also, it's a little awkward accessing the spa and getting outside (which really should never be a problem at the beach...). Outside though, it's a different story. They've hit a home run. The pool is surrounded by tropical gardens and tiki bars of all shapes and sizes. This is what a tropical beach resort should feel like! I didn't get to try the restaurant as there were not one, but two weddings going on the evening I was there. So, the place is obviously well-liked and doing some things right.
