This hotel is a favorite for foodies for two reasons: Chef Lee Wolen's The Lobby, which boasts some of the best roast chicken in the city, and the all-you-can-eat weekend chocolate buffet.Recommended for

If it was possible to give this hotel another 5 Stars I would!!
I should tell you that I am in the Travel Industry and have been to many amazing properties.
Upon arrival I received a huge box(gift) from upper management, it was a monogrammed with my initials.
The service is so over the top I almost don't know where to begin.
A standard practice is upon arrival the Front Desk Clerk will walk you to your room to faniliarize you with the hotel and to answer any questions.
It struck me as important because that is the treatment recieved by guests no matter what room catagory is booked.
The service in every restaurant and bar was impeccable.
The hotel also has a car that will take you where ever you want to go within the city limits.
If you are visiting this city you must go to this hotel if even for a drink.
By The Way...Did I mention that Tiffany's is next door?

The Peninsula is certainly a nice hotel but it is doubtful that it deserves the five-star rating. The hotel is so centrally located that the street noise permeates even the highest rooms, making for a rather loud sleeping experience. Also, the rooms were just a bit small for such a price, but that might just be because we were traveling as a family. Despite the street noise, the location can't be beat and we took full advantage of the lakefront and the magnificent mile.

Regal and upscale, The Peninsula is a 5 star hotel all around. Service is excellent and the decor is classical.
Their famous afternoon tea in the lobby is lovely. A perfect spot to spend a leisurely day.

Such a beautiful, elegant place have Sunday brunch or Afternoon Tea. I love having excuses like this to dress up in my Sunday best and spend a slowly paced afternoon with loved ones.
I also love how much sunlight their large windows bring in. Really sets the tone of this place.

Maybe you are a high-roller and are used to living the life of luxury, but I'm not, so this hotel offers an experience that is unparalleled in my world. The hospitality is outstanding -- you'll feel right at home, well, if you live in a fabulous mansion. The decor is impressive and the rooms are the epitome of comfort. The Peninsula is famous for its tea service, so do partake if your schedule allows. The downtown location can't be beat, either. The only drawback is, of course, the high price tag!

Three Words: Peninsula Tea Set. Whether staying at the hotel, do stop by for tea which should be a destination in itself. Very conveniently located near the Magnificent Mile, The Pen Chicago offers a lush refuge from the hustle outside. Rooms are beautifully appointed and service holds up to the Peninsula standards.

Yes, the rooms are super comfortable with luxuriant linens and small-apartment sized bathrooms. Yes, the service deserves its “legendary” label, complete with throwback bellman and valet uniforms that make you feel like you’re living in the golden age of travel. But the thing that draws me back to the Peninsula like a moth to the flame is their spa. The 90-minute Thai poultice massage at the Peninsula will haunt your dreams. I got there a little early and was directed to slip between the sheets of one of the waiting lounge beds, and was offered glossy magazines, and hot tea or water. During the Thai massage, a therapist alternately rubs and taps hot poultices made of healing herbs across your skin. I was first asked whether I wanted to be relaxed or envigorated by the process, and, once choosing relaxed, was offered two aromatic oils to pick from. An hour and a half later I emerged from the room in a blissful coma. I sunk into my room’s deep marble tub, listened to the classical radio station (TV is another in-tub option) and tucked myself into the incredibly soft bed and adjusted the lights and temperature with this bedside master panel they have. By the time I woke up, room service seemed the only sensible option. It was delivered white-linen quickly and, in a super high-end touch, served in courses! I especially appreciated that because, having emerged from near-hibernation, had ordered so much food my ice cream would have been soup by meal’s end. I only dipped a toe in the half-Olympic sized heated pool, but on my next visit plan to sun myself on the outside terrace on the window-walled 19th floor.

The lobby was gorgeous and large with a lot of palm trees. This hotel emanates class, and the staff is a match. There are over 30 complimentary scheduled fitness classes each week, including yoga, swimming, and palates to name a few. The gym is part of their spa which takes up two floors and includes a pool, and feature views utilizing floor-to-ceiling windows. The gym is great, and if you forget to bring running shorts, you will not have to buy the $70 pair in the lobby. They will lend you them. They think of everything here. Even the smallest rooms are luxury with the levels of electronically controlled mood lighting, huge TV’s, and comfy king size beds. One of the staff members mentioned they occasionally have fashion shows at the hotel, and it can get crazy, but unfortunately, there was not one going on while I was there. This place is a pillar of class, and I do not hesitate when I say that this is one of the best hotels in Chicago.

Wow! I believe I have found a new Gold standard for excellence that rivals and perhaps excels the Ritz-Carlton!
I had the pleasure of staying 4 nights at the magnificent Peninsula hotel on recent business trip to the Windy City! I cannot think of many other stays that have been as comfortable, pleasurable and filled with some of the most impeccable and courteous service ever!
Rich, opulent rooms and lobby areas, great choice of dining (from quick and casual to sophisticated and ultra formal), great bar (though a tad pricey!!!) and a location that's hard to beat, right beside the historic Water Tower.
Luxuriously appointed rooms that are elegant and understated - they don't SCREAM opulence at you but it's obvious in every little detail. The standard rooms are roomy but not huge. The bed was really comfortable and the climate control very efficient.
What makes this absolute gem of a hotel stand out is the service. Every single person - check-in desk clerk, the bell-hops, the concierge, housekeeping, room service waitress... every single one greeted me by name when they saw me... this is staggering!!! As a previous reviewer has stated, the rooms are indeed serviced twice a day unless you request otherwise.
Bathroom was gorgeous - marble sinks, comfortable shower with great control of water temperature and a fantastic set of bathroom amenities that were refreshed every single day!
~ 5 stars overall - this is unquestionably one of the premier hotel chains, if not the very best, in the world! If I could, I would return here in a heartbeat to enjoy more of this world class service and elegance.
