The Peninsula Hong Kong

Salisbury Road, Kowloon, Hong Kong, China

I visit this hotel almost every time I come to HK. It's beautiful, classy, and just a joy to be at. I've been here for afternoon tea, a large birthday dinner, drinks at the bar, etc and service has always been top notch.

Chungking Mansion itself is a fascinating place. It's the gathering place for South Asians and Africans. You'll find tailors, barbershops (separated by gender), food shops, electronics stands and the cheapest guesthouses in Hong Kong, right here in Chungking Mansion. Be careful when lingering by the entrance though. You're guaranteed to be approached by several men with business cards and menus, ...

Very cool and much needed testament to the Chinese space program. Great for kids, especially teens. Smaller ones would have fun there too and there is a lot to do nearby.

Impressive art museum which has recently relocated to the bit of Kowloon adjacent to the Star Ferry terminal and clock tower. Excellent collection of Chinese art with a nice exhibit on Andy Warhol in spring 2013.

There are actually quite a bit of culture in TST E with its Arts and Exhibition Halls, Concert Halls, Space Museum, HKG Museum, and converted ex-colonial barracks and architecture....if one could survive the stampede of visitors, freedom walkers, and cart totting shoppers.

Chungking Mansion has to be the most random and eclectic building in all of Hong Kong. The mansion is essentially a building and contains a hustling flea market, hostels, and apartments. South Asians, Asians, and Africans congregate to sell all tons of knick knacks. While it's not touristy in a packaged and refined way, it definitely is a unique part ...

I don't recommend this place place. I came here to check it out because I heard how bad it was. This place is apparently a refuge for criminals and there is lots of history here so I was curious. The rent is super cheap here as you can imagine. If you are visiting HK for the first time, just pay ...

The relatively new attraction is great fun. Best (and, really, only) viewed from Tsim Sha Tsui. Cozy into a table at Felix or enjoy from your room at the Intercontinental. It really is lovely... artificial.. but lovely and kids will love it too.

An experience like nothing else! The bright lights, pungent smells of incense and food vendors as well as the pulsing sound of whatever pop star is hip at the moment makes an exciting atmosphere to shop for fun souvenirs or just gawk at some of the fun and wild things being sold.

Chunking Mansions on Nathan Road are a classic backpacker haven. Though it has moved a bit more upmarket in recent years, Nathan Road has lost its former glory and is no longer the Golden Mile.

THE best history museum I've ever been to! Really fun and interactive. The different exhibits are built like the era it's describing (Victorian Hong Kong section, you walked through an old chemist shop; education in Hong Kong you sat in a classroom to watch a film, etc.). Really fun and educational at the same time.
