It's rather undeniable that there is no such thing as a local in the Temple Bar area of Dublin. In fact, most Dublin locals will probably tell you there's no such thing as a Dubln local. True or false, I met a "Dublin local" on a train to Dublin and she brought me here, to The Quay's Bar. Located at the essential inception of Temple Bar, a good mix of true Irish and tourists populate this no-frills, rowdy bar. There's no live music, there are no performers or gimmicks-- this bar just serves up stiff drinks and cheap beers (including, of course, Guinness).

A really friendly atmosphere permeates, making it exceedingly easy to meet people. In fact, the people I met here on my first night in Dublin became friends for life as we, over the course of the next week, explored the city together and went on unforgettable and awesome adventures.

You have a lot of options in Temple Bar. The Quays is, most definitely, a top choice for a top night.

Excellent fish and chips! Oh, and the green stuff which I thought was guacamole was actually mushed peas.

A great pint & some fine Ballad sessions. The downside like a lot of bars in Temple Bar is that it gets pretty crowded.

Description

The two wharves and roads that run along the north and south banks of the River Liffey through Dublin are called the Dublin quays. The roads change names several times - Wolfe Tone Quay, Sarsfield Quay, Eden Quay, Burgh Quay, Usher's Quay - during their route, and some 17 bridges cross the river in their midst. This slice of Dublin is among its most historic areas, and is delightful to walk along and take in the sites and the people.
