Mad love for the The Ramp! This fun bar is located right on the water and is tucked away from the hustle and bustle of downtown - and while I wouldn't call it "secret" or "hidden," it's definitely not a high traffic place. There's a small bar, but mostly everything happens outside on the bar's large patio. There's a small band "hut" where you'll find live music - and lots and lots of dancing, usually! - on weekends. There is generally a modest cover charge for live music after about 5 p.m., but arrive before then to grab a bite and avoid the cover. Music is seasonal (since it's outside) and generally begins in the late afternoon and ends by 8 or 9 (whenever the sun goes down).

Delightfully disorganized (ignore the wait list, just grab an available table; never sure if you will get what you ordered; you may get an ordered item three times over), great music, memorable view, friendly but erratic servers - so who cares about the mediocre food?

The drinks at this Potrero/Dogpatch restaurant are decent, but the real draw is the atmosphere - all festive all the time - and the view of the water. Though you can eat and drink inside, almost no one does - instead, groups of brunchers and lunchers cluster around tables on the wood patio or, some days, dance to salsa music. Definitely try the nachos, margaritas, and Bloody Marys.

I love the scruffy raw wood bayside boat dock feel of this place. You can hang out outside on a sunny day and drink beer and have burgers with your pals. I've even kayaked here with friends. We pulled the kayaks up on the ramp, changed into dry clothes and bingo instant party. If you drive, space in the lot is limited but you can usually find a spot on the street, unless there's a Giants game going on.

Situated on the bay, you have views of the ships, sail boats, and Oakland. Very casual place, typically have to wait for seating during the weekend brunch. Full bar area, and big outdoor waiting area. The food and cleanliness could be better. Service is just ok.

I am particularly fond of this place because you can sail to it, and then eat on the patio and watch the water. Makes me happy every time.

That said, the food is really good, The cuisine is not very adventurous, but the burgers are great, the nachos fantastic, the oysters I havent tried yet but they are on my plate next time I'm there.

Good drinks are not uncommon in the bay area, but they have a great bloody mary, which is harder to find.

And you can arrive by boat. pure win.

Beautiful when sunny, and fridged at night when cold. They offer fish and chips, burgers, and other staple bar foods, have a TV for watching the games, and a great bar for drinks. The outside seating is what makes it a classic though.

    Lazy Sunday?

Park you car, put your name on the waitlist (they don't take reservations), and get a cold one while you wait. Set aside your proactiveness. The staff is efficient, so stop speculating about when you are going to get seated and go with the flow.

This is the one place in SF where you can eat outside without a jacket on and almost feel like you are in some beach place somewhere else.

Basic but consistent fare here. I get the bacon, avocado omelette, which never fails. Comes with an English Muffin. Burgers are good too.
    Might try oysters next time...

They also have great happy hour specials during the week but never manage to get there before dark.

NOTE: No free refills here. So if you guzzle down 3-5 cokes in one sitting you might want to think about switching to water instead.

Looking for a place to meet up before the Giants game? Or maybe a brunch spot outside peering at the boasts while you sip a bloody mary. The Ramp is a great go-to spot for casual al fresco dining to suit a variety of ages and palates. Give me a veggie burger, bloody mary, spot in the sun and I'm a happy camper. Easy parking.

"The Ramp" is about as funky a place to eat as you'll find in San Francisco. It's situated next to the San Francisco Boatworks, a boat yard along the waterfront south of AT&T Park where the San Francisco Giants baseball team plays.

From May through October, you can order BBQ or items from the restaurant's regular menu, while listening to music on the patio.

You can reach The Ramp by car, although may favorite mode of transportation is sailboat since there's a nearby place to dock. If you don't have a car or a boat, use the public transportation trip planner at 511.org to find out how to get there by bus.

Great place to have a decent lunch and enjoy the only restaurant in the city that lays on the bay.
