William Rees founded Queenstown ages ago - and it took until a couple years ago for him to finally get a hotel named after him - go figure. It was worth the wait. This beautiful piece of architecture is an outstanding addition to the Queenstown landscape. Located about a five minute drive from the centre of town its slightly out of the action - but worth the trip. The breathtaking lobby area is a cosmopolitan mix of vaulted beams, exposed stone and windows that stretch the width of the structure framing the million dollar view in all its glory. The rooms are what you'd expect from that first impression - stylish, well appointed and take every advantage of the view. The in house restaurant comes highly recommended and the bar with that same breathtaking view is the perfect spot to celebrate a day on the slopes or on the hiking trail.Recommended for:

The Rees is located just a couple of kilometres from town along the lakefront, beautifully positioned to take in the Remarkable views. Be sure to put aside some time to relax in the grand yet inviting stone and timber lobby with a glass of wine or two and admire the cobalt blues of the lake and sky out the enormous windows – and upgrade your room for the same view if you can. The rooms themselves are spacious and elegantly outfitted in a subtle cream palette with warm timber touches - many come with a lovely deep, recessed bathtub too. Larger apartments come with a hand cut stone & gas fire place and a minimalist stainless steel kitchen with everything you could need. The scenic 30 minute walk into downtown Queenstown is well worth the effort at some stage, especially when you can return via the free shuttle service they offer.
