The Ritz-Carlton

600 Stockton Street, San Francisco, CA 94108
16 reviews

An impeccable European style hotel in San Francisco, very smart and subdued, no kitschy props to offend, so comfortable. Centrally located but just tucked away from the hurly burly and hoi poloi. On the small side for a large hotel, with at least a semblance of intimacy. Food is up to standards too.

    Gitane Restaurant & Bar

    0.2 mi from The Ritz-Carlton
    18 reviews

What's a gypsy-themed restaurant? According to the founders of Café Claude, who opened Gitane several years ago, it means design and cuisine elements from gypsy culture and the countries where gypsies have traditionally lived. The result is sexy, swanky décor; genius bartenders whipping up tasty tipples with a smile; and delicious food like bacon bon-bons and fresh bread. Though it's ...

Best sushi restaurant in SF. Price can add up but you will not be disappointed. The chefs are so nice and friendly. Go at lunch time, sit at the bar and you'll get a great lesson on sushi and general life. Dinner time, get the chef's menu.

I know it sounds goofy, but it's really fun! The drinks are big and strong, and the happy hour has great free appetizers. It's not for everyone, but it's the only place with an hourly rainstorm. An institution.

Like Elephant Bar but higher class people, decor and prices. Food is pretty good, too. If you are driving, park at the Sutter Stockton garage.

    R & G Lounge

    0.19 mi from The Ritz-Carlton

This place has been one of the more recent (by recent, I mean the last 30 years) cornerstones of Chinatown Restaurants, and is a popular place. The reasons are: location near Portsmouth Square's parking garage on Kearny; near the Hilton Hotel Chinatown (formerly the Holiday Inn); between Chinatown and the Financial District; and the food and service are consistently good. ...

    Muracci's Japanese Curry & Grill

    0.15 mi from The Ritz-Carlton

If there's one savory food I could eat every day and not gain weight or get sick of, it's Japanese chicken curry. There's something about the simplicity of the presentation yet complexity of the flavors that make my tastebuds happy. I love having a bowl of spicy chicken curry to drench a large plate of rice. Oh, and let's not ...

A hidden gem in the financial district of San Francisco. They offer authentic crapes that taste like the ones you order at a local store in Italy or Spain. I ordered the mushroom and onion crepe and loved it. My mouth is watering just writing this review.

Yummy! The menu has the instructions for ordering and when I was here, there was a worker who was coming outside with menus and to answer questions for people in line. Yup, there's a line out the door, but the place is small; I recommend taking your food to go and walking a block to the BoA plaza for a ...

Interesting drink choices like lavender mint lattes. They have a variety of baked goods to choose from as well as sandwiches. Got the chicken pesto lunch special that comes with a side (choice of salad or soups) for under $8 not including tax. Got a toffee caramel latte that was delicious as well!

I love taking visitors from out of town here! It's the perfect place to see the sunset and have a stiff martini. The waiters are dressed in bow ties and it takes me back to the days of Mark Twain, or so I imagine.

Shopping in Union Square? Hungry? Hop over here for some delish southern food and drinks! It's more of a hipster bar than a cafe, as you may expect from a southern food joint. A+ for the buttermilk fried chicken that was tender and not greasy and didn't have that over-breaded heaviness to it. Came with jalapeño cornbread, creamed collards, summer ...

I always feel like I've gotten whisked away to Paris when I sit out front in the European inspired alley. Belden Place is always a favorite lunch or warm evening dinner spot. The mussels and scallops are to die for. The servers with their French accents are always sweet.

A little bit of my childhood. I had to build up a tolerance to the oil of the chicken katsu plate with all the trimmings. Now, older and healthier, I opt instead for the barbecue chicken with brown rice and tossed salad. (I guess this is growing up.) This location, despite the outside appearance, is clean and the staff are ...

I haven't tried the food but the tea selection here is excellent. Seats are comfortable and the staff are friendly. Atmosphere is half Moroccan hookah lounge / half Chinese opium den. One of the few places I've gone to that has yerba mate. Would be better if they had free wi-fi.
