The Ritz-Carlton

600 Stockton Street, San Francisco, CA 94108
16 reviews

An impeccable European style hotel in San Francisco, very smart and subdued, no kitschy props to offend, so comfortable. Centrally located but just tucked away from the hurly burly and hoi poloi. On the small side for a large hotel, with at least a semblance of intimacy. Food is up to standards too.

This place gets pretty packed during lunch hours. There's almost never any seats available. But, the food is so delicious and comforting, especially during fall/winter! It just hits the spot.

As far as vegetarian/vegan in SF goes, this isn't the best, but it's a decent option and one that has been around for a long time. I guess that's why I keep coming back. A few years ago, I would have probably given it a higher rating, but there are so many other great veg places in the city. There ...

There is a word that says a lot about this place, unique. Ambiance, service, decor, food and cocktails, everything is perfect. The restaurant is small and cozy and counts with a really beautiful decor. They have the perfect amount of light to give the place a great mood and the soundtrack here is also super charming. I tried a glass ...

A fun restaurant bar inside Fairmont Hotel. I had no idea it was such a fun and lively place to be. A lil pricey as they charge a cover to pay for the live musicians, but the strong drinks and free rice cracker snacks makes up for it, and the band played some good dancing music.

Great cocktail bar located on Knob Hill. It has a stunning view over the city and is a great destination for post-dinner drinks. It has quite a formal atmosphere with a smart dress code. The view is unrivalled, and is definitely the main selling point of the bar. Highly recommend.

Great sushi spot, the sashimi here is really excellent. Be prepared for a loud atmosphere though - the tables are very close together! It's also difficult to find, sandwiched next to Irish Bank with no clear signage.

Not an easy place to find if you're unfamiliar with the area. My boyfriend and I walked from our hotel in Union Square area. You access the restaurant from a small alley. Seems a bit creepy, but it has the European vibe to it. The entire lane is restaurants. Look at the signs to find the correct restaurant. The food ...

One of the best meals I've ever had. Michelin star well deserved. We had 10 courses with the wine pairing. Every dish was beautifully prepared using fresh, local ingredients (many of which come from their own garden in Los Altos) and delicious. The service was impeccable - the staff knew both the ingredients and the wines very well. This restaurant ...

A little bit of my childhood. I had to build up a tolerance to the oil of the chicken katsu plate with all the trimmings. Now, older and healthier, I opt instead for the barbecue chicken with brown rice and tossed salad. (I guess this is growing up.) This location, despite the outside appearance, is clean and the staff are ...

After a little apprehension, we took the an elevator up to the top floor to the restaurant. It was a good decision. Even though we came in off the street dressed casually, the formally dressed waiters made us feel welcome. The food was amazing. Try the lychee prawns or chicken. Also the Singapore noodles were excellent, though we asked for ...

Lovely restaurant with good service and tasty food in SF's semi-touristy European alley, Belden Lane. The only real downside are the prices. It's not cheap! Get some fries and the bowl of tasty mussels.

    Buddha Bar

Buddha Bar is a solid Chinatown bar with cheap drinks and friendly service that caters to a young crowd. Totally unpretentious, it's a great place to relax in an area mostly populated by strange Asian bars. I definitely prefer Buddha Bar to Li Po Lounge across the street, as it's not only cheaper but it also seems cleaner.

I learned of this place when I asked a friend who has lived in North Beach for a decade, 'where can I get a delicious sandwich, nothing gourmet-silly, and get out of my funky low mood?' Apparently there is such a place. On Columbus street, next door to my favorite truffle shop in the world (XOX Truffles), a sunny little ...

I saw the line out the door and had to stop. It was worth it for some fresh, slightly spicy, chewy in the best sense, pork and vegetable dumplings. Get ready to point, the staff's English is minimal at best. But this will fill you up and cost under $5.

Stella Pastries is a comfortable spot for fresh pastries and nice cups of coffee. It's unpretentious, friendly and bright. There's nothing to dislike. The pastries include a number of Italian treats, some of which I've never heard of. The one thing they all have in common is that they all look amazingly delicious.
