Enjoyed my stay! The hotel is clean and the staff is friendly. The breakfast buffet was good food as well. The bar served amazing drinks and there is live piano playing and singing. Beautiful views of Gangnam. I totally recommend! Close to shopping, restaurants and nightlife.Recommended for:

I thought the Ritz was nice, but expenisve considering the swanky, but slightly dated decor. Nevertheless, the rooms were large, with some lovely views of the north of the city. There's plenty of amenities such as the fitness centre, several restaurants and an indoor pool. The staff were also polite and helpful.
The Ritz is on a drag with a line of other big-name hotel chains, which also strips away any feeling of local personality in the immediate vicinity. However, it is right in the heart of trendy Gangnam so it's ideal for business, shopping or for sampling mainy of the expensive, classy restaurants and wine bars. Check out the side street just before the main Gangnam drag for a sample of these.Recommended for:

I wasn't able to see any of the rooms as they were all either occupied or being cleaned, a fact I find surprising given how huge the building is. The staff were cordial enough, but I got the impression that they didn't really have time to answer a lot of my questions. Furthermore, the enormous building seems less about creating a cozy, welcoming hotel environment and more about housing the huge spa/health clinics that are spread throughout the basement. Currently, there is an entire area of the hotel devoted to a product that is similar to Herbalife. The location of this hotel, Gangnam, is a hub for plastic surgery in Seoul, so I get the impression that a lot of wealthy tourists rest their weary heads here after their latest procedure. In fact, I met a woman in the lobby who is doing just that! All things considered, since this hotel is so expensive and there are hotels that arent so overwhelming/cold in the area, I likely wouldn't choose this one for my stay!Recommended for:

Three Stars may seem an outlandish rating to bestow on a Ritz Carlton, but, to use a theatre phrase, the Seoul branch of this world class chain is "phoning in the performance". Perhaps it's a case of reputation building expectations too high, but for the price as well as the other options available in the Gangnam area, the Ritz Seoul doesn't seem to be living up to it's name.
Upon first look, the lobby and other public areas of the hotel are impressive. The ambiance feels light and airy, inviting, with touches of exotic, dessert warmth. The service is polite, and the English level of the staff makes for easy communication.
My problem really comes with the rooms themselves, which are shockingly small for the price. In the Deluxe room, there is almost no floor space that isn't taken up with the bed. The bathrooms are also small, and feel quite cramped, with only a shower stall and no bathtub- a big downside for me.
The Ritz Seoul has what seems to be the standard Korean restaurant combo of Italian, Chinese, and Japanese on site, as well as a Buffet.
In the end, you will most likely have a lovely stay at the Ritz- but don't expect it to be the most spacious or most luxurious place you've ever stayed. I suppose if you supplant the word "cramped" with "cozy" you could turn this review on it's head. It's really all about expectations, and this hotel just didn't live up to mine.

I must agree with the reviewer below and say that this Ritz Carlton does not live up to the brand's reputation and the rooms are indeed in need of refurbishing. It’s been two years since that review and the guest rooms don’t seem to have been renovated or updated in any way. For the price and the name, I expected to be more wowed by the standard deluxe room, which was a bit on the small side and with tired furnishings. The suites are obviously roomier, and it should be pointed out that with their décor in shades of gold and honey, the rooms seem to glow, creating a warm atmosphere. It seems like more attention has been paid to maintaining the appearance of the lobby and common areas, which do indeed exude the epitome of opulence that one expects from a Ritz Carlton. As soon as you enter the hotel, sounds of running water and the scent of jasmine surround you. However, for the price you pay, there are better options nearby.

I've stayed at this Ritz Carlton twice. The first time was way back in 2004. My impression was that it was looking a bit tired and not quite up to RC standards. My second stay was in April of 2010 and I am sorry to report that this hotel has not improved and looking even more haggard than before. The rooms are badly in need of an update and the restaurant was just "ok".
