There were a surprising number of young people and children at this Ritz-Carlton when I visited on a weekend. The furnishings are classic Ritz – dark wood, lovely paintings, pretty floral displays, a lot of attention to detail. Thought had been given to the way stemware was arranged, the way items were placed on counter tops.
The concierge was friendly and extremely helpful – even suggesting a way for me to do a project less expensively!
While there are ample restaurants in the area, I wouldn't say this location was the ideal one for tourists; it's better for those combining business and pleasure.Recommended for:

Classic Ritz-Carlton. Elegant furnishings, very sharp and attentive staff. The reliability that you would expect.
The building is newer, and not as interesting as some others I have visited. But it's convenient if you are doing business -- there are comfortable seating areas on the first floor, a lobby cafe and bar, as well as the restaurant.
My favorite feature is that The Sports Club LA, one of the best sports facilities in the city, is right there, and available to guests for a fee.Recommended for:

This is a nice hotel, obviously being a Ritz Carlton, but the rooms are ok. I suppose you could walk around to places, but it seems kind of far to walk. Depending on what you are looking for I may try another hotel that is closer to the landmarks.
