In the middle of a busy day of walking I found the perfect place to doze off. Even if you just want to see the hair included in so many movies, it's definitely worth stopping here.

Wow! So happy I got to picnic here as I've seen it in movies since I was a little girl. Find Sheep's Meadow and bring a frisbee!

The expanse of grass is reserved for people, no dogs allowed. So recognizable from the many movies shot here that pull in the greenery and the great looking skyline behind. Often or always closed when raining in order to preserve the grass.

This is a classic Manhattan picnic and sunning place in Central Park--it's as close as you'll get to a beach scene in the city. That, plus the views of the skyscrapers beyond the treeline are spectacular. A perfect spot for a date or just a laid back afternoon on a warm day.

The place to go if you want a lazy afternoon lounging about in the sun. It seems to be one of New York's favorite spots to just slow down and take a nap.

The Sheep's Meadow is a big open grassy space in Central Park. It's a great place for a picnic if the weather is nice.

Not only a great spot to relax but also prime people watching are available in the Sheep's Meadow. The first sunny days see an invasion of frisbee players, sunbathers and picnickers each year. Th occupation continues all summer.

Description

The Sheep's Meadow of Central Park (often called Sheep Meadow) is a 15 acre section of Central Park loved by sunbathers and picnickers; indeed, it is a great place in the park for a clear view of the New York City skyline and frequently draws more than 30,000 visitors daily, even when no special events are planned. The park has been used for protests and "love-ins" (dating back to the 1960s) and is currently protected from overuse. Bikes, sports and other events involving heavy traction on the grass are prohibited, but most activities are allowed otherwise on days when the grass is not wet. Pets are not allowed, except for those used to aid the visually impaired.
