I spent a lot of time here when I was a chef at Nobu. The Shore Club
is a true staple in Miami and you must check it out. It doesn’t matter if you’re there during the day to sit in a cabana or at night to get a drink -- there is always something going on.

Imagine if you ran out of money before you could finish building your hotel, so instead of adding carpets you left exposed cement floors and unfilled cracks in the wall. That is the look the Shore Club is going for. It is actually a nice hotel if you are into the cement chic - the beds are very comfortable, the water pressure in the shower was so strong it nearly washed me down the drain. The downside of no carpeting, however, is that every noise from the hall is amplified - i was woken up by a noisy gaggle of maids rolling carts down the hall. The location is great, and with Nobu (chic, high end sushi) downstairs and a very cool bar, you could do worse. Still, the early morning noise factor from the maids prevents me from offering up more than a 3 star rating.

In the wake of many new hotel openings, the shore club is less relevant than it has been, and that's a good thing. The frenzied atmosphere is a bit more muted, and you actually see children at the pool now. But it doesn't mean that people aren't having a good time. And the hotel always seems primed for a full-on party, even if it's not really happening. Subdued no, it never really is. But go-go crazy? Not there anymore either. The hotel infrastructure is is taking on more of a classic Miami patina compared to some of its new construction brethren that have shot up down the street, and we like that.
The best part is that, as a guest, all this is reflected in the rates, which suddenly make the hotel seem like a really great value for staying on the beach in Miami.
