This spot was clean and pretty with nice views of the city. The rooms were a tiny bit small, but sparkled with an elegant sense of class. By far the best parts were the excellent beds with big plush bedding and the fun hall lights depicting scenes from this historic hotel's past.

Background: Used to be called Pickford Hotel and through historical tax credit/government subsidy, renovated to become the Sofia Hotel. Rooms are compact but come with modern upgrades.
In downtown and close to the mall, bars and restaurants, and the waterfront. It's also priced competitively and they offer repeat discounts and also early booking specials. They also carry Gilchrist & Soames (http://www.gilchristsoames.com/) toiletries, whichm isn't that enticing enough? Yoga/recreational room on the 2nd floor. A nice brasserie restaurant called Currant connects from the lobby.
No balcony views, no pool/spa

**AWESOME SERVICE BUT SO-SO ROOMS**
We stayed here for Comic Con for $179 a night. Valet parking is $30 a night.
We stayed in room #326 which faced the Grey Hound station. Unlike previous reviews, the buses were not loud and we slept soundly. The queen room is small, but not tiny.
The queen bed was short, our feet dangled, which was slightly uncomfortable. The bathroom was modern, but not convenient with the glass half-door for the shower. Water flooded after every shower.
We received exceptional customer service from the front desk and the valet. They were friendly, easy-going, and helpful.
Hotel is central to everything. This is a BIG PLUS; especially if you plan to eat or party in the Gas Lamp.
It was a fun stay, but I expect a bit more space in a hotel room.
RECOMMEND for business solo travelers but not for couples or families due to tight-spaced accommodations.Recommended for:Business Travelers
