The Soho Hotel

4 Richmond Mews, London W1D 3DH, England

This is a great hotel and the cocktail bar is fabulous. We went there on the day after Halloween, when Soho was teeming, and found it a refuge. Wonderful service, terrific sense of style, and all around top hotel.

A true test of how good a cocktail bar is the staff. The first time I visited I wasn't keen on the cocktails on offer, the barman asked me three things I liked to drink and he created a beautiful drink that I have never been able to recreate. Being asked to try it to make sure I liked it ...

This is a tiny Chinatown, as Chinatowns go. But the gate entering into the street is impressive and makes for some cool photographs!

Oxford Street is constantly crazy, so make sure you know where you want to go before you head out. It's not really the area to have a leisurely afternoon stopping - Londoners walk quickly! If you're not from the UK, you might not know about our secret shame. Yep, if you're in need of an adorable, mass-produced dress or jumper ...

Old theatre in central London, hosting production of Les Miserables. It is difficult to find tickets so book well in advance. Musical is great, loved the performances as well as stage design. As it was our fist show in London, we were a bit surprised how casual it is comparing to Europe, where people dress up, sip champagne and nibble ...

An old standby, if you are heading out to East London and are a member of Soho House or have a friend who is, pop in to check out the rooftop pool deck and a nice meal. Trendy, scruffy looking east London hipsters. The design is reminiscent of NY Soho house if you are familiar with that....

Waxy's was one of my favorite spots while studying abroad in London. With four bars on a total of six levels, the space is massive and features winding staircases and a maze of passages that lead to tucked away seating areas and balcony-type overlooks. Tall trees with twisting branches give you the feeling that you're running around a giant treehouse ...

The Prince Charles Cinema is the only reason I ever go to Leicester Square - to see really cheap, throwback films like Labyrinth or rare documentaries like Of Time and the City. It's cheapest if you're a member, but still a fraction of the price of a normal ticket in another cinema if you're not.
