This is a great hotel and the cocktail bar is fabulous. We went there on the day after Halloween, when Soho was teeming, and found it a refuge. Wonderful service, terrific sense of style, and all around top hotel.

London's ultimate high street, Oxford Circus and Oxford Street are usually packed with shoppers. Selfridges' windows and the biggest M&S in town are the highlights, along with a great coffee shop called Joe and the Juice.

Once the epicenter of all things cool in the 1960's, Soho's Carnaby street now embodies a much more retail philosophy, lined with boutiques from some of the most iconic English and American Brands. Worth a stroll, and don't be afraid to venture through the side streets in the area, where the real gems are today.

Old theatre in central London, hosting production of Les Miserables. It is difficult to find tickets so book well in advance. Musical is great, loved the performances as well as stage design. As it was our fist show in London, we were a bit surprised how casual it is comparing to Europe, where people dress up, sip champagne and nibble ...

An old standby, if you are heading out to East London and are a member of Soho House or have a friend who is, pop in to check out the rooftop pool deck and a nice meal. Trendy, scruffy looking east London hipsters. The design is reminiscent of NY Soho house if you are familiar with that....

This is a private members' club catering for professionals within the film, media and creative industries, founded in the late 20th century in London. Its diverse ambiance allows for perfect days/evenings of work, dine and party; the roof terrace and the cinema spaces are particularly nice. Not only the elegant ambiances, but also the consistently good dishes served along with ...

The Prince Charles Cinema is the only reason I ever go to Leicester Square - to see really cheap, throwback films like Labyrinth or rare documentaries like Of Time and the City. It's cheapest if you're a member, but still a fraction of the price of a normal ticket in another cinema if you're not.

In the 1980s if you weren't a member here then you were nobody. Founded by Joel Cadbury, heir to the confectionery fortune, this is where the worlds of media, advertising and entertainment collided in a champagne-fuelled display of Thatcherite excess. Today it's a more sedate affair under new ownership (a venture capital fund). I'll still remember a now infamous night ...

It's exclusive, it's not cheap, and you'll have to book and go early unless you know a member - but these cocktails are world famous and if you're a cocktail lover this is the place to go in the UK. The bartenders can guess exactly what you'd like. Ask for something without consulting the menu - it's more fun.
