Everyone knows that the St Regis Westin is the top of the line when it comes to hotels, and this fact is obvious from the moment I stepped foot int the property. The lobby is a luxurious unfolding of a series of rooms. It feels like a series of rooms in an incredibly formal home -- the sitting room, the library, the office, etc. The real centerpiece of the place is "the winter garden." My jaw dropped when I walked in. The ceiling is an exquisite symphony of stained glass. Acknowledging the splendor of the room, the hotel has made it so that you can meet whatever need you might have in that room: there are groups of couches for lounging, a bar for aperitif, breakfast, lunch, and dinner are all served there. (Groups get their breakfast on the balcony!) Any where your eye might light is laden with some over-the-top explosion of wonder: the floral arrangements I stared at for what seemed like hours, finding new blossoms and gorgeous details to savor. The chandelier is another amazing factor in the space.
And after all this you would expect that the rooms themselves couldn't possibly stand up. Ah, but they do. My experience of the Junior Suite was positively worth it. I had a breathtaking view of the Arno. The fact that the bathroom had two entrances and a door in the middle was quite handy (especially when inviting friends up to the room). We were all blown away by the tv in the bathroom mirror. The future is here! Bizarre, wonderful, fascinating.
Another feature I appreciated is the pillow menu: you can choose what kind and how many pillows you want. How deluxe is that?

Every inch of this place says luxury hotel, from its location alongside the Arno to its hand-decorated wood ceilings and Italian marble floors. The décor is all beautiful and obviously high-end, though the design concept seemed inconsistent (for example pairing classic brown leather chairs with a modern zebra-print stool) – kind of like a fancy department store or antique shop. Despite that, every room here is beautiful. The lounge restaurant features interesting plant arrangements and Murano glass chandeliers. It really is a hall of light. The rooms have rich, luxurious furniture like canopy beds and Italian marble bathroom floors – and a television in the mirror! Who hasn't wished they could watch TV while shaving? There are countless thoughtful elements to staying here, from pillow options (what kind and how many) to beautiful reproductions of famous paintings. This might be the fanciest and best big hotel in Florence.Recommended for:Luxury Travelers
