The Stafford Hotel

16 - 18 St. James's Place, London SW1A 1NJ, England
6 reviews

The Stafford Hotel is one of our favorites as well as our correspondent's. With a charming courtyard lined with rooms in converted stables (two-part doors intact) and an old wine cellar filled with great vintages and some WW1 artifacts, and attentive, but not obsequious service, the Stafford is a hotel worth returning to again and again.

    Meat Liquor

0.75 mi from The Stafford Hotel
    11 reviews

With all the menu items under £10 and greasy enough to satisfy the most insatiable appetite, Meat Liquor is a great choice for the budget traveler looking for a hip meal out. The menu boasts two categories - the Meat and Liquor of the name. Big, juicy, and served without plates, this was an early contender on London's gourmet burger ...

    Dishoom Covent Garden

0.73 mi from The Stafford Hotel
    10 reviews

In the less-touristed but gorgeous area of Seven Dials near Covent Garden is this tastefully designed Indian/South Asian street food cafe. Come hungry, early if you don't want to wait in line, and with friends; the many small plates are meant to be shared. I don't like daal much, but theirs is remarkably good. 'Naughty' chocolate chai comes with a ...

Viennese cicchetti (small plates) are all the rage in London these days because of Polpo. For added chic, have a cocktail in the Campari bar downstairs while you await your table.

In 15 minutes I saw the Masterchef host Mike Wallace, Sam and Eddie Hart the brothers who introduced Tapas to London and celebrity chef Valentine Warner at Ducksoup. Clearly chef owner Julilan Biggs, pictured here, is respected by the top chefs in London. And frankly he is so charming you cannot help but just love this atmospheric hole in the ...

What a great dining experience! The food and services are both top notch. My friend and I went for the 7 course tasting menu. We started with chestnut and juniper gnocchi with chestnut and truffle veloute. It was very tasty and I can just take a whole bowl of the veloute sauce as a soup course. Next we have a ...

The views are amazing over London and the lift is fun too - feels like a theme park ride! The food is quite rich although their signature 'Duck and Waffle' dish is very yummy. The cocktails are great too! It's 24 hours so you can come early and watch the sunrise whilst eating breakfast!

I suggest getting the Katsu Curry Chicken. I had the vegetarian version of the Katsu Curry as well and they were both good. The vegetarian version was made with breaded sweet potato, eggplant, and squash. The sauce is amazing! I love Wagamama. I need to live by one.

    Patty and Bun

0.79 mi from The Stafford Hotel

The Patty and Bun has its priorities straight: the best-quality ingredients come out on top, and shine in a no-frills, laid-back atmosphere. All the products used, from the meat to the vegetables, are locally sourced whenever possible, and the freshness is palatable. The star of the menu, the Ari Gold, starts with a generous patty of grass-fed Aberdeen Angus beef, ...

Ottolenghi is good, but Nopi is better, in my opinion. I managed to make a booking for the downstairs communal table and I really like the elegant table setting. Nopi serves small dishes, which I love, because I can sample so many different flavors at one meal. The menu here seems to be changing very frequently if not daily. The ...

It’s rare for anyone in any part of the world (Britain included) to utter “Oh! I’m in the mood for British food!” It has long been a cuisine with a poor reputation, but that’s changing. Mildreds is not only riding the wave of the British food Renaissance, but also helping pioneer it, by making spectacular versions of classics like bangers ...
