I stayed in a king bed room...I was surprised by the...uh...arrangement of the room. The shower shared a glass wall with the bed. Their rooms probably aren't the most appropriate to share among friends, but ok for couples/significant others. The room had a great view of the Meatpacking District and NYC skyline though. There's a couple restaurants attached to the hotel itself as well as restaurants and shopping within a couple blocks of the hotel, including Chelsea Market. The Boom Boom Room on the 18th floor is popular among New Yorkers, so you have your nightlife in the hotel or nearby in the Meatpacking District as well.
There's also a gym on the 17th floor, which offers great views of the Hudson and the city!Recommended for:

This is where the cool kids hang out. You cannot call yourself a New Yorker unless you stepped inside the exclusive world of The Standard Hotel High Line. Located in the affluent Meatpacking District, André Balazs’ line of Standard hotels raised the bar a little higher for its High Line establishment. Built above street level, on top of a former freight track, The Standard took to the sky with its cutting-edge style, happening atmosphere and élite clientele. A pioneer in the realms of sleek Mid-Century modern design, the top-tier hotel is perhaps best known for its see-through windows. This city view can be seen from the windows of the Standard.Recommended for:

This hotel is an architectural wonder and has been written up in almost every travel magazine since it opened. Rooms are gorgeous and the food is great. The only thing you need to be careful about is that people can see into your windows from the park, so if you are modest don't change in front of an open window.Recommended for:

A one-shop stop for the best NYC has to offer; great location, high-end concierge service, breathtaking views from the Top of the Standard, fine dining.
New Yorkers come here to indulge (either at the Standard Grill, Biergarten, Boom Boom Room, Le Bain) and to see and be seen.
If you are visiting, this is a top recommendation on where to stay.Recommended for:

first off, no I did not see Zak Efron... is that how you spell his name?
But it is hard to differentiate anyone from anyone when I was at this hotel. Considering the location and everything.. the layout of the room is nice... nothing like waking up to the crotch of who ever is taking a shower in the morning. Hahahahaha. They lobby is a chic airport lounge like atmosphere and the elevators change at night.. so be aware of this before you get too drunk and try to go back at night... since they will wall off 2 of the 4 elevators. 2 for hotel and 2 for strictly club access.
Fortunately the last couple of days of my stay was very humid and therefore I got to know the hotel very well. They serve sorbet ice cream out front... there are staffers posting on the corner outside that look like hipsters who will help you with anything pre or post hotel stay.... the rooftop bar is pretty cool and so is the staffer with the towel on his head.
About that last part, I dont mean that in a derogatory racial ethnic kind of way... he literally had a towel wrapped around his head for whatever reason. I wasnt about to argue the point... but went with it. If I had stayed another day he had promised that he would take care of us if we wanted to come back to the club that night. Damn it all to heck... oh well.

OK, so architecturally this is a gem. But I just hate the assumption that because I want to stay somewhere funky that I want thumping music in every public space. I can picture the staff here going home after a long shift, drawing the curtains and listening to white noise on noise cancelling head phones. Such a shame because everything else about it - the views, and even the prices for Manhattan - are great.

The Standard doesn’t look like much from the outside, but the rooms have amazing views and the Chelsea/Meatpacking location is great for nightlife. Be sure to check out Le Bain on the top floor--sexy bar with gorgeous NYC views (especially the bathrooms!).

A good hotel with a heavy buzz. It's not the best deal, or anything close to it in NYC, as a better bargain can be found elsewhere. However, if money isn't an issue and you're looking for a nice place, with a great location and solid bars (especially on the rooftop, which is awesome), this is the best bet.

Andre Balaz does not disappoint! You can drink in 5 different bars here and enjoy amazing sunset views up top! The beergarden is a big (and profitable) draw. Make sure you leave the hotel; it's hard to walk away but you can go across town and check out the new Standard East if you're feeling separation anxiety.
