Few places in Miami deliver on style, wellness and mellow vibes like The Standard. What was once a historic Miami Beach property has been reinvented with the Standard's signature cool. I love the mid century design, the incredible views and the meditation gardens, complete with hammocks, cabanas and bath tubs for clay treatments. The spa and hammam are unlike anywhere else in Miami, but more like a Moroccan bath house. My favorite Standard detail? The surf rock playing when you dip underneath the water in the pool. Can anyone say 60s movie motif? To be fair, the rooms are a bit tiny and underdressed, but you stay at this property for the amenities, not the room. There's a restaurant, juice bar and pool bar onsite. Whether you're staying at the hotel or just wanna check out the view, I highly recommend making a stop at The Standard.Recommended for:

The Standard has the relaxed and low-key vibe you would expect at a hostel but with amenities and grounds that reflect a more serene and maintained atmosphere. The lobby area and patio feel like an upscale new age retreat, with furniture made out of driftwood, a large pool on the bay, and a fire pit surrounded by lounge chairs. There were even a few old hippies outside on laptops. The Standard seems fit for the older, more relaxed crowd, the kind of people who like organic food and want a respite from the typical chain hotel. The rooms also reflect that, with earthy tones and simple but comfortable furnishings. They also have a restaurant and lounge, which is a nice convenience since it is a little out of the way from the South Beach action.Recommended for:

This hotel is the best. If you want a romantic weekend or you want to hang out in a pool 24/7, or you want an awesome free spa, this is the place to be. When staying here I felt like there was really no need to see Miami--I just wanted to stay in the hotel.
It's full of cool looking furniture and the shower gel is the best smelling ever. It has a great free hammam and you can even bring a visitor. We got an upgrade just for asking and everyone who worked there was extremely accommodating. When I tried to tip someone for bringing us extra blankets he said we had paid enough to stay there and it was not necessary.
The outdoor area is very romantic/mysterious--big hedges that lead you to fire pits, hammock areas, and the pool! People under 17 are not allowed in this hotel, which is something I LOVE but is clearly reflected--I saw more than a few people in these secluded areas having some "adult time." The pool is 24 hours, which was great for me. It also had a great waterfall hot tub, view, and plunge pool!
Though we enjoyed our stay, you will not love this hotel if:
--You want a huge room.
--You need secure access. Access to the rooms is from the outside, though a person would have to go through the lobby to access your door--I had no issue with that, but other people might.
--You have a car and are cheap--the valet is crazy expensive ($37)
--You plan to walk between the hotel & Miami beach late at night. Though the hotel is near lincoln road the walk isn't super pedestrian friendly especially at night. Not in terms of crime but in terms of crosswalks.
--You want to spend all your time at the beach. The hotel is not near the beach but the pool is so awesome you will not care.
--You're myopic--the outdoor area is very dark & mazelike--could be a pro, but was sometimes a little confusing.

The Standard Miami is the hotel that I compare all others to now! We found good prices on Priceline (in the pick your hotel – not the name your price – section) and I was excited when I read the reviews.
We got in very late and the front staff gave us a few late-night delivery menus when we checked in. We stayed in the least expensive room (I think it's the Dry Medium). The hotel was obviously a mid-century apartment complex and we were a little nervous as we walked down the skinny outdoor hallway to the room. What a fun surprise when we entered our room. The flooring is light colored bamboo and the furnishing is all very clean and white. The room is really small but there was room for a daybed in addition to the queen (I think) sized bed. The bathroom was small for sure. If you need a lot of room, the Dry ones are going to be too small. The Wet rooms are on the bottom floor and I think are larger inside in addition to having the outdoor area.
The pool is amazing. It's a warm, salt-water infinity pool with a great view of the Bay. There is a small cold plunge pool and a wonderful hot tub with the waterfall/bench area. That pool occupies my dreams!
There is a shuttle to their sister hotel, The Raleigh, which also has a lovely pool and is beachside. We never actually caught the shuttle since the walk to South Beach is only about 10-15 minutes. I believe the shuttle only runs once an hour and it might even be discontinued during the off season.
This is a quieter hotel, adults-only and definitely not in the heart of South Beach. If you want a wide range of nightlife right at your feet, I would look at The Nash (where we stayed on another trip) However, for my husband and I, being away from the center of things was just what we wanted for a special birthday vacation.
The hotel also has fun lobby events most nights. One night we played Bingo for prizes (and they were decent prizes – many were spa treatments) We ate at the hotel restaurant for breakfast one AM which was good – pricy, but good. Lastly, I had a great manicure at the Spa and would definitely go back for more services there.
I'm already planning our next birthday trip to South Beach and I wouldn't stay anywhere but The Standard.

This is the Miami version of the Standard chain. As in all of their other hotels, you will find here great design, fun atmosphere and all the hot stars. The location in just walking distance to lincoln road, but rooms are great and pool area is gorgeous.
