The Taj is palatial. Marble and starched white uniforms amid luxurious gardens and a killer sunday brunch make the Taj an expat fave. The pool is divine and the towels, big and fluffy. Even if you aren't a techie millionaire, anyone can afford to use the pool and graze on a lazy sunday brunch buffet fit for a Raj.Recommended for:

There's absolutely no doubt this is quite the smartest (and most expensive) hotel in Bengaluru. Set amid the most beautiful and extensive landscaped gardens, the Taj oozes opulence. From arrival, service was absolutely top notch: we were met in the airport baggage hall by a hotel representative, who escorted us to our waiting car. On arrival at the hotel, we were presented with beautfil flower garlands and given a bindi on the forehead. Very charming. Checking in was smooth and efficient, the general manager came over to introduce himself and upgrade us from a club room to a suite.
The Raj Club (for those with club access) was a bit of a disppointment - a small room where the waiter almost stands over you all the time. We declined the wine on offer there - a particularly foul vigonier which we'd had the misfortune of trying earlier on this trip.
The general manager again came to say hello and suggested we try the outdoor Blue Bar, as we wanted to smoke. Though the setting was pleasant, the bar was lit in blue neon and playing the most dreadful dance trance music. Seemed quite inappropriate for both the type of hotel and the age of the clientele is attracts.
Though our stay was on the whole great, one of us got chronic food poisoning, the culprit we believe some olives offered with drinks in the club (likely preparation of these, rather than what they were stuffed with).Recommended for:
