This is a fabulous hotel (although I’m a little biased towards any place where the doorman greets me wearing a pith helmet). The decor is massively risky; from the candy stripe carpet, to the kitsch leopard bar, but for me it all works a treat! Perched on a cliff half way between Camps Bay and Hout Bay, the hotel’s sea-facing bar is a favourite amongst locals for the ubiquitous ‘sundowner’. It’s definitely on the upper scale of pricing, but for that you get attentive service. I mean, you can even have popcorn brought to you in their in-house cinema. Some might worry that the 15 mins drive makes it too far from town, but I’d argue the coastal drive back and forth will be a highlight of your stay in Cape Town. The spa is legendary and luxurious, even if the faux cave walling of the jacuzzi area is somewhat over the top. This is probably one of the coolest places you could stay in Cape Town.Recommended for:
