This place captured my heart. It's more architecturally beautiful than king Henry viii castle in London. This campus is so big I feel like I could get lost in corridors for days. Take a walk through campus if you enjoy architecture at all.

One of the world's great universities and home to one of the most influential economics programs. The campus is very nice, though it is in a bit of a dangerous area of Chicago, so be careful when you get away from the campus

The architecture here is lovely. It has to be one of the more attractive university campuses in the country. That said, it isn't a tourist site and not something to plan your trip around.

It cracks me up that you can rate a university on Gogobot, but I can't resist the impulse to three-star the place, as everyone says, where fun goes to die. Really, being an undergrad there was not *that* bad. Loved the Seminary Co-op Bookstore, the quadrangle that looks as if it were airlifted from the Ivy League, projecting movies at Doc Films, pizza at the Medici and beers at Jimmy's Woodlawn Tap (and Zombies at the now-departed House of Tiki).

The 1893 World's Fair wasn't just restricted to Jackson Park. Outside the White City, running through what is now the southern part of University of Chicago's campus, was the Midway Plaisance. It was here that visitors were able to see exotic scenes, like the "Streets of Cairo" exhibit, where artifacts from ancient Egypt were on display and where Buffalo Bill put on his Wild West show. Now, the strip remains mostly a green area maintained by the University.

Built to look a bit like Oxford, this is a beautiful campus in the heart of a gentrified neighbourhood.

The architecture is definitely impressive. I really enjoyed strolling through the campus, though I did not attend university here.

Not only is it one of the best schools in the world, the architecture is stunning. If you enjoy gothic buildings, you must visit. Take your camera, because there will be plenty for you to see and share.

One of the world's great universities, it's a pleasure just to stroll through the campus, admire the architecture and the landscaping and watch the students going about their business.

First weekend in February. Mandel Hall. Masterful folk musicians: cajun, gospel, blues, shape note singing, Irish, Quebecois, fiddlers... Workshops & concerts.

Description

The University of Chicago has truly shaped the modern world: from its role in defining conceptions of the free market's role in economies, to the development of radiocarbon dating, to the experiment that produced the first nuclear reaction, UOC has ever been at the forefront. Its sociology department was the first of its kind in the United States, it hosts nineteen different sports programs, and is consistently ranked among the top ten universities in the country. On top of all that, the Gothic-styled university is nestled in a stunningly picturesque location in Hyde Park, just steps from the beautiful shores of Lake Michigan.
