I went to a work thing here once, on the roof top, so this review is for that space (I haven't stayed here or anything). What a cool space, though. I definitely appreciated the cabana-like seating, and the pool.

US Grant Hotel is absolutely stunning! A San Diego Icon since 1910, the US GRANT hotel is in the ritzy Gaslamp district. Just a 5 minute walk from lots of exciting restaurants, stores and attractions in the heart of the downtown area. Or, never leave while you stay at USG since it's a luxurious getaway in itself and food can be purchased at the relish Grant Grill or from their yummy room service. The rooms and bathrooms are gorgeous. The staff and customer service are impeccable. Watch out for the $35/night valet.Recommended for:

This is the oldest hotel in San Diego and in the heart of downtown. The lobby is beautiful and the service was good. The room was comfortable with a large bed and comforter. The room had two bathrobes and two pairs of slippers, which was nice. No bath tub. Boring view of the street. A nasty sewage smell was coming from the bathroom sink, which we noticed right away and continued throughout our stay, but most of the time we were out-and-about so it didn't matter. The downstairs gym was nice and well equipped. You can use the pool across the street for free, too, if you stay at the Grant. Overall, a decent hotel.

We were an hour early for our day drinking appointment at The Tivoli, so I motored around downtown, found a parking spot, and attempted to say hi to Rachel over at The Tipsy Crow. Closed.
Never deterred from my mission, I grabbed Sarah's hand and we were off. North, then West, and in to the US Grant.
Once seated at the bar, Sarah said she felt as if we were back in The Oak Room in NYC, and pointed to the corner, "... and we sat right there..."

This hotel is right across the street from the Horton Plaza mall and at on end of the Gaslamp District. Grant Grill is on the property and the Yard House is across the street. Inside the hotel everything looks very clean, and has a personality. It is not cookie cutter like most other hotels. The bathroom had a vessel sink and frameless glass shower. Some of the rooms are right off of the elevator banks. The area outside the hotel is alright. There are bars that let out around here and there are a number of homeless hanging out in the area around it.

If you're staying in downtown San Diego, The US Grant is absolutely fabulous. Not only is the historic hotel gorgeous, the service is extremely gracious and warm. This is truly a 5-star hotel, without an ounce of pretentiousness.
The room is so luxurious. The decor is stunning - I loved the intricate crown molding and the large windows looked out to the lovely garden roof. The bed was so comfy, it was hard waking up in the morning. The bathroom had luxurious Gilchrist & Soames bath products.
The downtown location is great - so conveniently close to the Gaslamp District and just a few blocks away from Petco Park, with super easy access to I-5. Instead of paying for the $32/day valet parking at the hotel, we always found free street parking on 3rd & C Street behind the hotel.Recommended for:
