Awesome bar located on the 39th floor of the Marriott Marquis. From their windows, a panoramic span of Downtown SF, which includes the Bay Bridge and AT&T Park, is a sight to enjoy while taking in a few libations. Speaking of the latter, the Old Fashioned and The Elevation are pretty darn tasty.

Went to The View in the Marriott hotel when some friends were visiting. Drinks aren't cheap, but they have an amazing view of the city. A great place to grab some drinks and chat. It's a great place to catch up and enjoy the view.

My God, what a breathtaking view. Imagine taking the Death Star and moving it ever so gently over downtown San Francisco (without regard to gravitational laws), and think about the view you'd get from Palpatine's royal throne. This is what you get at The View, the top-floor bar at the San Francisco Marriott.
Drinks are overpriced (as expected—the "well drink special" is still $8 and most cocktails are $14), but service is wonderful and the space is nice. It's not very large, so you should definitely arrive early.

The view at the View is a great view to view...
...providing it's not very foggy. And it's an incredible view from both sides. From one end of the bar you can look down on Saint Patrick's and take in the Bay Bridge, from the other you can see all the way to Twin Peaks and most of SF's landmarks.
The drinks at the View, however, are not very good drinks to drink!

The moon hits your eye, like a big pizza pie!
The view was great, of course seating is an issue, but that aside the view is great. The floor opens up when the bar opens up.. I guess that would be 4pm I think.
The bartender was cool and made up my drink a tad stiff.. meaning 'just right.' One side of the view is of the water and the water front. The other side is a more cityscape minded view but equally beautiful. I was able to see city hall area (the flame throwers from Lovefest was a nice touch), japantown area, and more. I guess i kind of do miss the city... but surely it's more of a nostalgic feeling if anything else.
The staff was delightful and the food was better yet. I believe we got a number of apps just because we were heading back out to the clubs. Think we ordered a quesadilla, crab cake, shrimp cocktail, and seafood flatbread something or another. I liked the quesadilla and the shrimp a lot. The crab cake was alright and I never did get around to the flat bread.
