This hotel may look a little gloomy at first sight or it may give you the feeling that you're climbing the elevator to the Twilight Zone's Tower of Terror since the decor is so 1950's, but the rooms are actually quite large, clean and new. It was a pleasant surprise. The staff is always friendly although the front desk is ...

This hotel is on the border of Midtown/Upper East Side. The rooms are modern. The subway is 10 steps away from the front door. Bloomingdales is doen the street and it is surrounded by eateries. I felt really safe in this neighborhood and its only a 10 minute walk to Times Sq and a 5 minute walk to Bryant Park.

I used to tutor a girl here who took the train in from the Hamptons with her mother for SAT lessons. I love the neighborhood: brownstones and quiet tree-lined streets. You always notice the Barclay because of the flags out front. The rooms are stately and elegant. Definitely an old school place.

The Roger Smith is across the street from the Waldorf-Astoria, and next door to a Marriott and a Raddisson. Compared to these big-shot hotels, the Roger Smith is a breath of fresh air. It's unpretentious and understated in its beauty and personality. An intimate boutique hotel, this place is great for those who appreciate art and individual character. The entrance ...

Rooms are small but very well appointed. Every space is well used. The Benjamin boasts one of the city's best concierges (we got last minute Nobu 57 reservations) and has a great Brazilian churriascara restaurant downstairs. Convenient, yet not on the crazy Times Square strip.

I love this rooftop bar. They have great views of the city and good cocktails. The food is adequate but not much of a meal. The service isn't the best but you are going for the atmosphere more anyways.

Boutique hotel on 46th. It's VERY small... as in, a half size building. There's not really a lobby to check in/out, but yo don't really miss it. Each floor only has 3 rooms. So, it's elevator, and 3 doors, and that's it. No space for hall way or more rooms. Even though the building is small, the rooms are a ...

Stayed here while on business in Midtown East and was very pleased. Small and tasteful boutique hotel with only 100 rooms or so. Rooms are large (for NY) and well appointed, and I especially like the heated bathroom floor during my chilly December stay. Staff is abundant, courteous, and helpful. The second floor has a "club room" that is essentially ...

The Plaza Hotel is another of New York's great luxury palaces. It excels the Waldorf-Astoria in location: it stands magnificently at the southeast corner of Central Park along Fifth Avenue. Mostly I think of it as the hotel where Kevin Arnold spends his week in New York during Home Alone 2.

Rounding up from 3.5 stars. The lobby here is super cool and is has a great bar. Arriving you feel like a rock star. But the rooms were tiny, kind of like a shoebox. Classic Morgan's group hotel. No doubt, this is a lovely property in a great location. The building architecture and interior design are very distinctive. I ended up here because it was freezing, so I needed to thaw for a bit and I noticed that the entrance said it was open to the public. Hey, why not?
