A classic New York Hotel in a great location on Park Avenue, the Waldorf is hardly trendy, but it does not need to be. The lobby needs some sprucing, but this is one of New York's grandest hotels and it's a wonderful place to hold an event.

One would expect the Waldorf to be one of the finest hotels in New York. Queens and presidents stay here. However, as one can imagine, all rooms are not created equally. Although the public spaces are lovely, our room was the smallest we have ever experienced in New York or in any Hilton. Fortunately, we were not concerned, since we planned on spending little time in the hotel. However, the tiny, bland room was almost laughable.

i really really hate to write less-than-stellar reviews. but my intent is not to bash the waldorf or to take business away from them. it's only meant to enlighten other travelers who may be thinking of staying here.
i booked a king deluxe room far in advance and paid $370 (a steal!) for a teeeeny tiny room on the 8th floor. there was no view whatsoever. the handle of the faucet in room 819 is broken in pieces. the faucet where you turn on the water is on the opposite side of the tub where the water comes out.
the fuse kept blowing out as i was trying to iron. i had to search frantically for an outlet that wasn't being used already. (i think there was ONE available).
the worst part, was i woke up with insect bites all over my leg the next morning. i sent a polite email to hilton immedaitely inquiring about any past complaints re: bed bugs, but have not heard back. for the price you pay, i was dissapointed because there are much nicer and more modern hotels you can stay at for less money.
the check-in staff was polite. and the lobby is beatuiful. but the outside was undergoing renovation and i didn't get to experience the main entrance. i wish i knew beforehand. i realize this is a historic hotel, but it was beyond simply old. it was kind of sad.

Timeless elegance, rich Manhattan history and an undying commitment to luxury all comes together here at the Waldorf. This is an older, but glorious hotel. The rooms are refined and tasteful, but not extravagant. The hotel itself is immense, with ballrooms and meeting areas big enough to ride camels through. And I speak from experience. This is the home of the annual Explorers Club dinner. When they're not dining on kangaroo stew and tarantula legs at an exotic buffet, they're releasing eagles on free flights around a ballroom and lion cubs up on stage to play with famous astronauts. It's crazy, but its par for the course at the Waldorf.

The Waldorf Astoria is the quintessential hotel that New York City offers. Its name is renowned for luxury and glamour. The prices definitely reflect this reputation, so if you have the money, treat yourself at this legendary location!

I'm usually not a big chain fan but I stayed at the Waldorf because of work. ok, Waldorf, I understand you are one of the most famous and historical hotels in the world. I don't expect the intimacy or attentiveness a small boutique hotel provides from you. But c'mon, your rooms don't have to be run down, your sheets don't have to smell, and your staff don't have to put me on hold forever when I call. Just because you are big doesn't mean less effort need to be put in management and service for making it a nicer hotel than it already is.
I do like the room service and the famous Waldorf salad and the charm of the hotel lobby and the bar though. I'll still go there for a meal or a drink but I wouldn't pay that much to stay there.
