One would expect the Waldorf to be one of the finest hotels in New York. Queens and presidents stay here. However, as one can imagine, all rooms are not created equally. Although the public spaces are lovely, our room was the smallest we have ever experienced in New York or in any Hilton. Fortunately, we were not concerned, since we planned on spending little time in the hotel. However, the tiny, bland room was almost laughable.

The Waldorf Astoria has been providing unsurpassed luxury since the late 1800s. It is the real deal; a classic hospitality experience in Manhattan.

i really really hate to write less-than-stellar reviews. but my intent is not to bash the waldorf or to take business away from them. it's only meant to enlighten other travelers who may be thinking of staying here.

i booked a king deluxe room far in advance and paid $370 (a steal!) for a teeeeny tiny room on the 8th floor. there was no view whatsoever. the handle of the faucet in room 819 is broken in pieces. the faucet where you turn on the water is on the opposite side of the tub where the water comes out.

the fuse kept blowing out as i was trying to iron. i had to search frantically for an outlet that wasn't being used already. (i think there was ONE available).

the worst part, was i woke up with insect bites all over my leg the next morning. i sent a polite email to hilton immedaitely inquiring about any past complaints re: bed bugs, but have not heard back. for the price you pay, i was dissapointed because there are much nicer and more modern hotels you can stay at for less money.

the check-in staff was polite. and the lobby is beatuiful. but the outside was undergoing renovation and i didn't get to experience the main entrance. i wish i knew beforehand. i realize this is a historic hotel, but it was beyond simply old. it was kind of sad.

It's hard to believe that Marilyn Monroe once lived for two months in the Waldorf=Astoria, in the mid-fifties but had to move out because she couldn't afford to stay at this hotel. This was when she had just started her own company, "Marilyn Monroe Productions" and she was just getting it off the ground.

Class with a capital “C.” Most of us will never stay at the Waldorf, but hey, a girl can dream. The building itself is pretty gorgeous, and definitely a piece of NY history.

A very impressive architectural design. This hotel is well known because of the Classic Ar-deco design of the building and the interior. Although I wasn't staying there I was impressed by the interior looks.

    Disappointed.

I'm usually not a big chain fan but I stayed at the Waldorf because of work. ok, Waldorf, I understand you are one of the most famous and historical hotels in the world. I don't expect the intimacy or attentiveness a small boutique hotel provides from you. But c'mon, your rooms don't have to be run down, your sheets don't have to smell, and your staff don't have to put me on hold forever when I call. Just because you are big doesn't mean less effort need to be put in management and service for making it a nicer hotel than it already is.

I do like the room service and the famous Waldorf salad and the charm of the hotel lobby and the bar though. I'll still go there for a meal or a drink but I wouldn't pay that much to stay there.
