The Washington Inn

Quaint, stylish rooms and a charming old elevator. Woke up to the subtle sounds of the farmers market and street performers playing jazz horns. A wonderful way to start the day!

    Art & Soul Festival

It happens once a year in August, and it is by far one of my favorite outdoor festivals in the the bay area. No need to drive and hassle over parking when you can easily hope on BART and walk. There are several stages with different genres of live music playing to keep your hips moving. Your stomach will stay ...

Misty Morning Gardens is a full service garden design and landscape construction company. Christian Ehrhorm led the installation of new landscaping in my front yard earlier this year. It was designed by Sarah Herman Landscape Design and consisted of double rock walls, low-water plants, and irrigation. Both Sarah and I thought he did a great job with her design including ...

Liege is a very nice bar within what I call Old Oakland. I was here for a private reception and enjoyed just sitting at the bar and talking with folks. The bartenders were also friendly and knew their mixology well. They also serve food and offer comfortable lounge seating and television vieowing.

0.22 mi from The Washington Inn
    2 reviews

So who in the Bay Area has never driven through the MacArthur Maze? Anyone? This large freeway interchange is also known as the Maze and sometimes the Distribution Structure. Principally it can be seen as splitting Bay Bridge traffic into three freeways, the Eastshore, MacArthur and Nimitz, although other movements are important. My "favourite" directions are on I-80 West heading ...

It's now been 3 times that I've been called for Jury Duty here at the Wiley W. Manual Courthouse. It was only the 2nd time that I actually showed up and that one involved a snarly Deputy at the Security Check Point, a lot of waiting in the Jury Room, much talk of what an Citizen's honor this is (I ...

My very first Warriors game was back in the mid-1980s when I occasionally got court-side seats, thanks to a co-worker whose husband was one of the scorekeepers. Then in the 1990s, my son's Mom worked for a Biotech start-up and great lower-level seats or a corporate box were sometimes available. It's often hard to keep my son's attention regarding sports ...

There are larger Bay Area Farmer's Markets, but this one is just fine. Great selection of fruits, vegetables, baked goods, and lunch-time items. Walking along the waterfront also adds a little magic to the place.

It's hard for me to say that "I'm a Fan" (aka 4 Stars) to a Utilities company. Yes the water is good and it's delivered reliably, but isn't that what they're supposed to do? Beyond that, here are some other thoughts: - There was recently a water leak at the junction of the EBMUD Main and the line to my ...

For $50 you can get a 30 min foot + 45 min full body massage. Not the nicest facilities and I'm not sure it's actually a legit reflexology massage, but the service is great and it definitely does the job.

The Fox Theater is a great venue. It's a great looking building, I had a great view from my seat in the balcony and The Den (the lounge next door) is a great place to hang out if you arrive early for the show. Easy access via BART seals the deal.

It's one of the best places to take your child. You can only go if you have a child, as no single adult is admitted. The park covers 10 acres of kid heaven. There are puppet shows, theater events, birthday parties, summer sleepovers, and much more. Very cool place for kids, and it's only $8 per person.

An Art Deco stunner! When I lived in the East Bay, loved going to screenings of classic movies here, it's the full vintage experience...they do a spin game, an organist plays a few numbers, and they screen a short before the feature film. Their live performance line-up is impressive too.
