In my opinion, the Westin Bayshore, located near the entrance to Stanley Park, is sitting on Vancouver’s prime piece of real estate. I can’t think of a better place to escape the city while still being in the city. It’s a little removed from the downtown core, but they do offer free shuttle service during the day.

Built in the 1960s, the hotel’s exterior doesn’t look as modern as some of the city’s glass towers, but trust me, everything inside feels luxurious and brand new. The lobby and guestrooms are immaculate. It really felt like someone was paying attention to the details. Besides, being an older building means you benefit from larger rooms and full balconies. Make sure to request a room with a balcony that faces Stanley Park – the scenery is incredible. I’ve lived in Vancouver for over 20 years, and even I was in awe of the view!

If you’re feeling energetic, sign up for the hotel’s running program, where one of its staff members leads groups around Stanley Park—it’s a great way to feel like a local. But if you’re looking to relax, I’d recommend dinner at Cardero’s (where you can oggle at the million-dollar yachts) or a glass of wine at Lift Bar & Grill, best enjoyed by the outdoor fireplace on the rooftop deck (skip the food, stick to the wine).

My family first started coming here on business back in the days of the hotel being known as billionaire Howard Hughs' hideout spot. Those days have come and gone but the cozy, perfect location of the Westin Bayshore remains. I come annually to Vancouver and am always greeted with the friendly fantastic service that Starwood properties are known for. The building sits in front of Stanley Park and the views are incredible day and night. There is nothing that beats a good night's sleep on a heavenly bed with the curtains open to the city view in the background. Try the breakfast buffet if you are in need of a large meal, it is high quality and worth the price!

The concierge assists me every year with getting into the always-full Cardero's next door (also highly recommended).

In addition to a full sized Starbucks inside the hotel, across the hall is a gift shop that is by no means overpriced and has some fun B.C. gifts in it if you are looking for some last minute souvenirs.

The Seawall Bar and Grill has delicious cocktails and great appetizers. If you are debating on where to stay, and want to be near the city but not right in the middle of downtown, stay at the Westin Bayshore.

This place is dog friendly and a perfect spot if you have a dog cause Stanley Park is just steps away from the hotel. They also give you a pet bed to use in your room if you need one! My dog loved the hotel & the workers are nice as well!

Centrally Located this is one of my favorite Vancouver Hotels.
It isn't huge but its in a great area...just a couple of blocks off of Robson St.
The service is good and the beds are "Heavenly"!
I love that it is unassuming and feels like home.

Right on the border of Stanley Park. The mountains, the ocean, the marina, heaven... What more could a person ask for.

Whenever I visit Vancouver, I try to stay at the Westin Bayshore, near Stanley Park. Although it's a little off downtown, it's just a little stroll away on foot. What's really great about this Westin, is the view of the mountains, the marina and Stanley Park. If you are there around 5-6pm at night when it's hot outside, you might also see people rowing... with the sunset, it's amazing. The pool is quite nice too and I tried the spa where they use high quality products. There are good options for dinner nearby.

If you are a jogger, this is also a good spot because Stanley Park is so close. The hotel offers a jogger map of the park. There is also a bike rental place nearby and you can go for a ride in the park.

I checked in here on a Sunday morning after taking getting in from a wonderful Canadian (VIA) train trip. I was on a business trip in Edmonton on Friday and had to be in Vancouver on Monday, so why not see some of the amazing beauty that in this case Alberta and BC have to offer?

This hotel is a beauty. It's right on the water and near Stanley Park and the West End. My room was very nicely appointed, very comfortable, and had a killer view of the water, especially when those float planes land.

Of course you don't stay in your hotel room when you are in a place like Vancouver. If I would have planned better, I would have participated in the Sun run, but ended up walking down to the water, taking the boat to Granville Island (and back), walking up shore, through the West End and Robson Street, towards the Gas Light District and then back.

By the time, my work colleagues and I met in the Lobby of the hotel on Monday morning, I was very happy and well rested.
