The Westin Palace in Madrid is, by far, the most beautiful and outstanding hotel I have ever had the pleasure of staying in. From the glorious accommodations, to the impeccable interiors, to the stunning and delicious breakfast buffet, to, perhaps, the most convenient big city location ever. If you can splurge... do it.

The Palace is probably the best hotel in Madrid with its fancy Victorian-style bedrooms and grand stain-glassed entry hall. If you're looking for a big hotel that reliably offers all of the amenities, this is the place for you. Service will be good, rooms will be nice, and the location is great. If you do your homework, you might even find some good deals on rooms. My entire family stayed there during my wedding and everyone really enjoyed their stay.

A Five Star property truly worthy of the title.
Not only is the hotel spectacular the location is chic and in a neighborhood that is classy and elegant.
A two minute walk from the Prado or Retiro Park makes this more of an experience that a hotel.

The Westin Palace in Madrid is, well, like a palace, with a spectacular stained glass dome in the bar/lobby area. The moment you walk inside you can’t help but notice that anyone of importance would definitely stay here. We just happened to spend a night here for only one reason – we wanted to be next to Prado, so we can visit the exhibit there early in the morning before catching our flight home (we were coming back from Canary Islands). Using SPG points and staying for free was the most alluring reason. But we absolutely loved the luxury and splendor of this fabulous palace. The room was charming and tastefully furnished; the bathroom was spacious and well-stacked. I would love to stay here again and have more time to enjoy the beauty and elegance of this hotel.

Really loved it...Grand dame of Madrid. The air of the ancient times...You can feel the luxury. Rooms are good, try to get upgraded to executive for a bit more space. Walking distance to most sites and of course, Starbucks is around the corner. Great place to stay in Madrid.

Love the history and character of the building, and you can't beat it's location. Within easy walking distance of the major museums for some culture during the day and Plaza Santa Ana for some tapas and drinks at night. I gave it 5 stars because I love it and will happily return year after year. But I'll throw in the caveat that the bathrooms are fine but could use an update to maintain international 5-star standards.

So the story goes... At the beginning of the twentieth century the Spanish queen went on holiday to London. She was blown away by the large and elegant hotels and when she came home she lamented the fact that the Spanish capital was a poor cousin by comparison. So she told the king to build The Palace Hotel. Aptly then, this place is fit for a queen - opulent, palatial and sumptuous. Walking in the door you’re enveloped in Romanesque frescoes and hanging above your head is an unforgettable chandelier in the shape of a palm tree. The lobby feeds easily through to the English-club style bar and open-plan restaurant, and the whole communal space is buzzing with wealthy socialites - there’s no doubt this hotel remains the meeting place for the crème de la crème of Madrid society. And when you’re in the circular atrium (where you can grab a drink or coffee), don’t forget to look up - as far as immense stained-glass domes go, this one’s a cracker. The room was ample size and carried an air of easy luxury - porcelain lamps, dark-wood furniture, flowing fabrics. Location is prime - you’ve got the the Prado across the road, the Reina Sofia down the street, and Puerta del Sol five minutes up the (not steep) hill. Ask for a room facing the fountain, keep in mind the wifi isn’t free for all rooms (at these prices, it should be) and don’t leave without checking out the little museum with artefacts from the hotel’s fascinating history.
