This was part of my birthday surprise trip to Italy with my Platinum-status-holding vacation companion.
Oh eM Gee. This place is over the top! It's way old school, with very decadent decor, perfectly named "Palace". Due to the Platinum status we were upgraded to a very nice room with sliding doors separating the bedroom from the living space, although since this trip was booked with Points, I have no idea how much that room would have been. The Heavenly bed was divine, in fact, so much so, we landed, we checked in, and we promptly fell asleep until I think dinner time (it was suppose to be a 30 min nap, but jet lag anyone?). We were a little bummed about that because we essentially lost a day, and were kicking ourselves for closing the drapes and completely blocking out the sun!

The Westin Palace is one of the symbols of Milan, and once you walk through the main entrance, you really understand why. Apart from the grandeur of the ceiling and the beautifully arranged pieces of furniture that create comfortable reading corners, the staff is particularly helpful and polite and always ready to help the clients that ask for their assistance. The grand classic design of the lobby and of its rooms is particularly charming, especially because, once you look closely to the details, you will notice that they are not perfect, which makes the hotel all the more genuine to me. In the spa, the list of treatments that they provide is two pages long and everything sounds incredibly relaxing. As a downside, the internet fees might be really too high, if you ask me, 15€ per day is simply ridiculous!

This hotel was a bit too much “Westin” for me to be interesting at all. Too much gold, too much light, too much luxury, too much opulence, too much classic details. I was definitely too much bored. It really has nothing in particular, nothing that sticks to your memoires and let you remember your stay in the Italian capital of fashion as a memorable one. I prefer originality over tradition and this has everything except freshness and uniqueness. The rooms with a view are particularly awful, if you get the opportunity do not spend more money on a view which is not exactly what you might expect from Milan. This hotel is out of the way as well, you need to walk a good deal to get to the centre.Recommended for:Luxury Travelers
