This Westin is much older than other Westins I have stayed at. Upon our arrival we were informed that they are doing some renovation to the hotel but the noise shouldn't affect us because the work is done way up on the top floors. They were wrong. 2 out of the 4 nights of our stay we were greeted by these annoying hammering sound coming from above. It wasn't loud but it was enough to wake me up early in the morning.
Can't complain about the hotel location. It is right there at the heart of Gaslamp Quarter with most of the clubs and restaurants in walking distance. Prefect for anyone who like a little nightlife action. The mattress and bedding in the hotel room are quite comfortable. Unfortunately the amenities were old and layout of bathroom is strange. I am not a big fan of the wooden sliding door. You can hear everything going on in the bathroom even when the door is shut.
I just wish I was informed of the construction when I booked my stay.Recommended for:

The rooms here at the Westin are clean and sharp, and some of them have a great view. The overall feeling is neither too businessy nor too geared towards young people, so it’s a solid bet for whatever it is you’re looking for. This is especially the case if you’re a shopaholic. The hotel is literally right next door to the Horton Plaza, the mall. Other than that though there’s nothing too spectacular to set it apart. When I was there they were redoing the fitness room and there was some problem with the pool, so it was also closed. Overall a solid, if uninteresting, place to stay.Recommended for:

I enjoyed my stay here. The service was great. Location was great. Food was good.
Right next to Horton Plaza... Shopping! But I didn't really do shopping but I could had... And this place was right next to Sushi Deli 2. WIN!
It's walking distance to a lot of good stuff... Extraordinary Desserts, bars, etc.
Good room. Loved the bathroom theme... Bamboo theme. The soap was shaped as a leaf and for some odd reason... I became obsessed with it. I just loved the soap! I'll post a photo of it bc it's so cool!
King bed... Comfy. Passed out in it... Could had been from dancing all night too... But still. Good room for the deal we got. ($99 biatches! Steal!)
Drove in a nice car up here - they placed it in the front and valet were so nice about it... Guests valet $32. They won't let you park it yourself, but they made sure a guy who owned a sports car (a valet guy) park it.
Very good. Everyone was nice and personable. They offer refreshing water in the lobby during the afternoon. Nice.
The waitress in the hotel's restaurant was really sweet and helpful. She even printed out directions for us to our next location (I told her where we were going afterward)... Yeah, I gave them a good tip after doing that.
Food was good. They offer breakfast buffet and a standard menu buffet. I got the spinach egg white omelet. Good. Typical.
I loved the customer service, since I'm BIG on customer service. Seriously, good place to stay

Like all Westins, you'd expect to find comfort, service, and a modicum of class at the Westin Gaslamp-- and you will. It's not over the top; it's a Westin. There's a pool, wifi, and it's right in the heart of the Gaslamp quarter, which is the main draw. There are so many things to see, do, and eat all within walking distance.
I've stayed here over and over and I'll continue to come back when I'm in San Diego. It's the right combination of comfort, price and location.
