Thistle Bloomsbury Park

126 Southampton Row, London, United Kingdom
1 review

We loved the location, so near the British Museum and smack between two tube stops. Breakfasts were good, but the room was a bit small and dingy, especially for two. However, I'd stay there again since I'd rather spend on dinner than lodging.

Cute neighborhood Italian restaurant. Food was good but didn't blow me away. That said, the atmosphere and the affordable prices are a real draw. Ciao Bella is always lively and crowded - and the live music was a kitschy plus.

This "chippy" serves old-skool fish and chips. That's it. There are different kinds of fish to choose from, and a relentlessly retro atmosphere. It's also cheap, and in central London.

    Alens Chip Shop

0.21 mi from Thistle Bloomsbury Park

We were looking for some authentic local food so a natural choice was a chippy for fish 'n chips. Good fish, chips, sauce, but for me it's just great when it's hot, so I've got to eat fast. Fish 'n chips did hit the simple table hot, so, I was satisfied.

    Russell Square Cafe

0.17 mi from Thistle Bloomsbury Park

I really loved eating at Russell Square Cafe. It's inside Russell Square Park right behind the historic Russell Hotel. I was treated with eggs, toast, beans, and sausage. Breakfast was topped off with English tea. If it's not too cold, I suggest eating outdoors, so you get a view of the locals and pigeons strolling around the park.

The Holborn Whippet is a good place to grab a pint and catch up with friends or colleagues after work. They've a good selection of beers, and I was surprised to find American Microbrews on tap.

    Hakkasan Hanway Place

My favorite restaurant in London, hands down. Every dish is beautifully presented and very tasty. The atmosphere is super hip, with high ceilings, lacquered wood and lighting that makes it feel intimate even when the place is packed. And the cocktails are great as well. Definitely get a reservation, though, as they fill up weeks in advance.

Is this a restaurant masquerading as a cocktail bar or a cocktail bar with pretensions of being a restaurant? Either way the place is usually rammed and, on balance, deserves recognition for some creative Cantonese cooking.

Good for large groups. You can share a bunch of dishes. It's all communal seating. The shaking beef is quite good. The curries are fine too. There's one in Bloomsbury and one in Soho.

18/20; Food 9/10, Ambience 4/5, Service 5/5. The food at Joel Robuchon's London outpost does not disappoint. There are some real treats on the ever-evolving menu, explained by some of the most attentive staff I've experienced in a London restaurant. Modern French dining nearly as good as it gets without going to France (or New York, but that's a story ...

I've always heard that one of the best places to eat Indian food is in London. I'd have to agree. In a city where many originate from or have traveled India, palates are particular and seasoned to ensure this trendy hotspot earns its full house and reservations-a-must status. Everything is delicious, though served in date-sized portions. You'll still walk away ...

It is my new favorite Tapas place. Lunch is probably the best time to come since they only take reservations for lunch time.
