One of the very few gay bars in Orange County - which just won OC Weekly's Best Gay Bar in 2013. Since there are so few gay bars in OC you can find any type you like here - bears, twinks, and everything in between.

A little camp, a little alternative, and a little plush. The Tin Lizzie Saloon is nothing to write home about for this San Francisco resident, but what it lacks in substance it makes up for in charm. A relatively small bar with a chill crowd and strong drinks.
It's Orange County after all; I wasn't expecting all that much to begin with.

I went to this bar last night and really liked it. You would have to be local to find it because it is a bit tucked away.
The music is great, the crowd is attractive and the drinks are GOOD (and reasonable). The music is Alternative/Heavy Metal and I can honestly say that this is the first Rock/Gay Bar I have ever been seen. Fun!

As I walked inside Tin Lizzie for the first time, I thought to myself, "How on earth have I never known about this place?" Red walls, chic, conscious design, yet still a dive bar feeling... awesome!
About 5 minutes later one of the people in our group points out a magazine rack with a few sultry photos of men on the front. Then I looked around the bar again with a new set of eyes on and it all started to click.
"Ohhhhhhhhh...." I thought to myself. I get it now. Then I mentioned it to my friend standing next to me and watched him do the mental math as well.
No wonder this place was so damn cool. The drinks were amazingly cheap, it's in a good location right near the Lab/Camp, and everyone in the bar was very friendly. There was only one bartender working when we arrived, but really, who would expect 40 people to just come waltzing in your front door.
There may or may not have been Grease on the jukebox, there may or may not have been dance off's, and this may or may not seem stereotypical, but compared to so many of the pretentious bars in the area, Tin Lizzie is a breath of fresh air.

You're gay and for whatever reason you're in Costa Mesa? Sure, why not!
I have actually been here twice, and I think we should send you in with pretty realistic expectations. This bar is near the airport in a what I'm guessing through the drunk haze is some kind of office complex.
There is nothing super going on. There are some rainbows and damask papered walls so you know it's gay. There are well drinks. There is a jukebox. There is an unimpressive collection of beer.
But if you can't be with the one you love, amirite?!
Welcome to Orange County.
