The restaurant is located in what used to be a major tobacco industry area. I think most of the buildings have been converted into restaurants or offices. One of them must of (or is currently) Lucky Strikes Cigarettes (not the bowling place!). The restaurant has an awesome location! It is overlooking a stadium so there is a big outdoor patio in the back. The indoor section is really nice as well. There is a TV everywhere you turn. All great quality and in HD. I think this place beats out most sports bars in LA, they put some major $$ into it. There are 2 private rooms you can reserve for parties, one room even has a side little TV viewing area with 3-4 chairs and a separate TV. It was totally cute! The restaurants main floor in really big. The front row has private chairs with their own little private TV screen. I'm sure the place gets packed during Duke basketball season (& UNC). It must be such a fun place and if I lived in the area, I would definitely be there.
Food was pretty decent. But I never really feel the food is great at sports bars anyway. It's all about the BEER!!!! The one thing I did have was their Mac & Cheese and it is one of the best i've ever had! It has bacon and some other things in it which makes it super unhealthy and absolutely delicious!
The service was great - personable host and server.
I wish they had a place like this in LA...maybe they do and I haven't found one but Tobacco Road Sports Cafe is cream of the crop!
