Who hasn't wanted to live in a castle in the Italian hills? You could spend your days tending to your personal vineyard, swimming in your stone-encircled pool, watching your deer frolic in your private deer park, driving into town to wander through medieval cobblestone streets, and coming back home to eat enormous plates of gorgeous pasta and truffles, either in your 11th-century King Arthur-style round table dining hall or at your outdoor restaurant, where kids can play on the hand-built playground and adults can enjoy cooking classes and wine tastings. While renting the entire castle for a week isn't cheap, staying at one of the villas on the property (or renting a room in the castle in the off-season) is surprisingly affordable. You're not terribly close to any town (you're between Todi and Orvieto, maybe 25 minutes to each), but Umbria is a pretty small place, so you're not more than 1-2 hours from anywhere.
