- Tokyo RyokanMember ofAdventure TravelersArt & Design LoversFirst to ReviewOct 14, 2013
This “ryokan” was designed by the owners to be modern looking and minimalist. It’s really beautiful It also only has three rooms and it's cheap, so book in advance. My only complaint is that there’s no bath, but at this price, if that’s your thing, you can use a public bath in the area. The owner is easy to talk to and the “ryokan” is in a living neighborhood, with schools, temples, stores and sumo stalls, so it's a cool place to stay and go for walks. This is a really traditional area, so there are a lot of those little shops that are totally specialized. Like if you need boots for your ramen making uniform, or you want a little plastic replica made of the sushi you serve in your shop, this is the area to come to. It’s fun to walk around, even if you’re not in the market for one of these things.

This Ryokan isn't that big but it's cheap. Also this Ryokan's owner speaks English very well and knows a lot of information about what's going on around this ryokan. He talked to us about specific sumo players in the near by sumo stalls, so I imagine he keeps up to date on sumo events, so if you want to see a match while you're in town, he might be able to help you.
This place has a really peaceful feeling. It's a nice place to stay if you want to stay in a residential, rather than business area in Tokyo.

The staff at Tokyo Ryokan are multilingual. Property amenities include “tatami" floors and a single shower.
There are three rooms with “tatami” floors and futon bedding at this small ryokan.
