Tony's Pizza lives up its reputation as being a world-class pizza joint. They have five different pizza ovens (wood fired, coal, gas, etc) to make all the different styles appropriately. I've been going since they first opened and the quality is consistently top notch.

There is always a long wait, so visit the slice house next door if you're pressed for time. They have a limited menu, available to go.

The absolute best pizza in San Francisco. Traditional, super thin crust, italian (not NY) style pizza. If you are going to do north beach, this is the place to come. Book ahead - this place gets packed, and for good reason. Try the New Yorker with coal fired 1000 degree oven. The meatballs are also divine.

The place is a friggin' UNIVERSITY OF PIZZA for Chrisesakes!

Seriously though, amazing pizza. All types, cooked all different ways. Personally I LOVE the St.Louis style. Spicey, special kinda cheese, yada, yada.

Oh and if you get the chance, sit at the Chef's Counter and watch them work! They are fun and like to have a laugh and sometimes a little drinky-drink.
    ;-)

A great pizza spot. I ordered the 3 course pizza- which consisted of one large rectangle pizza with 3 sections- an "app" and main course and a desert pizza. I loved it... My brother ordered the meatball appetizer and gluten free pizza. Everyone loved what we ordered.

The pizza here is to die for! It's really well-known, so expect a wait for a table in the evenings. My friend and I each got one of the cream sodas (recommended!) and a margherita pizza to share. DELICIOUS!

If you're a creeping elitist, your instincts may tell you to steer clear of this pizza restaurant which often has a line out the door. If you snub this spot, you'll only deprive yourself of a damn good pie. There's a reason this place is popular – the pizzas are excellent. And the salads, cocktails, and service is, too. Make reservations and skip that obnoxious line.

This place is always crowded, but it is worth the wait. They have 9 different Pizza oven which can be a little bit confusing for choosing the right pizza. We ordered their most famous Margarita which was really good and than we had the classic Italian Prosciutto E Pomodorini which was fantastic! Really authentic Italian Pizza crust. The little Italy Salad was also yummy. The owner won 9 time so far the World Pizza Championship.

Tony actually won an award in Naples for his pizza skills. That's definitely a worthy credential. This relatively new pizzeria in SF's North Beach sells coal-fired pizza in the New York, Napoletano and Romano traditions. If you're rockin' solo, you can grab a slice in their to-go shop next door.

The only downside are the prices. A slice of cheese—albeit a huge and delicious slice—can run you over $5 after tax. It's probably the most expensive slice in SF.

Tony's isn't the cheapest pizza in the city. We're including it as one of our favorite budget restaurants in San Francisco since you'll be saving all of that money on a plane ticket to Italy. Tony's has won a pizza-making contest. In Naples.

You could order one of their delicious pasta dishes or another style of pizza (Sicilian, American, Californian, even gluten-free), but we suggest the classic Neapolitan.

Afterwards, head across Washington Square Park to Saints Peter and Paul Church, where Joe DiMaggio got married and had his wedding photos with Marilyn Monroe (15 years apart).

One of the best pizza in San Francisco. Thin crust with great flavor and fresh ingredients. The only downside is that they don't take reservations and most of the time there is some waiting until you can get a table.

Dubbed the best pizza in the United States by one of the cooking magazines and they are probably right. You can eat in the restaurant or buy it by the slice from the take out window.

We waited two hours but it was worth! Leave your number and they will call you when the table is ready. The best pizza in SF!

I stepped on the scale this morning and immediately starting cursing Tony's name.

Those bastards over there are churning out good pizza. No wait, not good pizza but rather some of the best pizza pies I have ever tasted. The problem is that I love you too much and Tony's is now the major contributor to my ever expanding ASS.

I have had the pleasure of trying four different pizzas here and they have all been winners. The MARGHERITA is a classic, they limit these to just 73 per day, so if you are a fan get there early. The NEW YORKER is my personal favorite, but saying this is literally like choosing who my favorite nonexistent child is. ROSEMARY, WHITE ROSE POTATO, & CHORIZO spicy and super flavorful, do not be afraid to order this weird pie. And last but not least, the TRUFFLE pizza. Now this one is a doozy and if you elect to get this one, it is priced at market and as of last night is $88 for the shaved white truffle option. YIKES! but not to worry, they also offer this pizza with truffle oil and is priced at $23.

And there are so many more that are on my pizza radar and will soon be entering my belly.

The starters are delicious and can also take some of the blame for adding ASS fat. The meatballs are amazing and if you are smart like me, save one and add slices to the MARGHERITA or the NEW YORKER as it makes for a nice compliment.

There is a great wine list and a full bar. Yes, a full bar! which after a long day is always welcome. Last night thanks to my good friends who brought a super delicious bottle of wine our choice was easy. Thank you Gill and Markus!

Our server last night was Erin and she was outstanding. She checked in on us often and made sure that we were well taken care of.

Tony's at this writing is my favorite pizza in San Francisco. But seriously, my ASS hates you.

Best pizza ever! And the other food is good too! The Margherita pizza shown is limited to 73 per day and follows a recipe that won a pizza contest in Naples.

Likely one of the best pizza you're gonna get in the west coast. Simple ingredients made perfect. Can't go wrong after late night North Beach outing.

For under $20 you can have some of best pizza in the world. Tony G have won't every pizza contest imaginable, including the prestigious Best Pizza in Naples (first non Italian to had won it).

Each day Tony pays homage to the competition and passion of his art by offering 73 STG Margarita pizzas. When they sell out the sell out. Ingredients are flown in from Italy to help make this special pizza. His place is the only pizzeria I know that offers pizza cook 4 different styles (coal, wood fire, gas, and electric.

Tony is a wonderful guy. Offer to buy him a shot of Fernet and tell Nick sent you.

Don't be fooled by its generic name, it is the best pizza place in San Francisco. In the heart of north beach AKA little Italy, it can easily blend in with the scores of restaurants near by. However, to get a table here, you can easily look at a 2-hour wait! That was what we did and only to get a table outside in the cold. We ordered their signature Margherita. Tony, the owner won world awards for this. It was hands down the best Margherita I have ever had. It has very thin and delicate crust and the toppings just melt in your mouth. I can eat one every day and I don't even like pizza that much. We then shares a pizza Romana, which is a appetizer, a main course and a dessert pies all baked in one rectangular pizza. It was delicious as well. If you want some greens, try their fried green beans. One meal and I am a big fan.

In the heart of North Beach (SF's little Italy), serves thin crust pizza from a charcoal fired oven. Nice blistered crust. They are known for their margherita but I think it's a bit soggy.
