Topaz is located in Dupont Circle, but the street seems world away from the busy circle. If you blink you will miss the hotel, but once you walk in the lobby you leave the business of D.C. The hotel’s lobby is small, but lively and a great place to regroup before a night on the town.
The hotel offers free Kindle Fire’s for guests and free Wi-Fi if you are Kimpton in Touch member, which is free to join. The rooms are spacious for such a small hotel. Ask for a room that over looks N Street instead of the parking lot on the other side of the hotel. The hotel has one restaurant that serves breakfast and dinner, but is known for their appetizers and cocktails based on a Moroccan theme. I noticed a few dogs in the lobby because the hotel is pet-friendly.Recommended for:

The Topaz Hotel has a lot to offer. A hip, eclectic lobby greets you when you arrive, just off from a great lobby bar (complete with full menu). The staff was a little overwhelmed when I arrived, but they were friendly and helpful with great personalities.
The rooms themselves were pretty great too, clean and cool with a nice feel to them. What I appreciated most here though was the commitment to fitness. Each room comes equipped with a yoga mat and yoga instructions runs 24 hours a day on their televisions.
It's a nice touch, although with the fitness-mindedness of the place I wished they had a gym on site as well. They do offer complimentary entry to the YMCA just down the street, which is really nice if you're inclined to walk down (it's barely a tenth of a mile), and I was told some rooms come equipped with a piece of cardio equipment as well.
Complimentary coffee and tea is offered in the morning as well. Not a full breakfast, but it's a nice touch. Located in the heart of downtown, this funky space is a nice find with access to a lot of what the city has to offer in terms of nightlife and culture.Recommended for:

The Topaz has a funky feel to it. It used to be an apartment building so the rooms are large. I liked the little seating area in the room.
The front desk personnel were easy going and accommodating. It's a relaxed atmosphere, pet-friendly, and near the Dupont Circle Metro. There's also an evening wine hour!
For fitness folks, the hotel has passes to the big YMCA facility that's not too far away.Recommended for:

Topaz is right next door to the Embassy of Micronesia, and you can feel the star treatment as soon as you walk in. Two sets of heavy doors open as you approach them -- I half expected bugles to announce me.
Guest rooms are super cute, but the bathrooms – complete with anteroom -- are adorable. The sinks are big enamel bowls set on top of the vanity, and long silver spigots spill water onto your hands like a fountain.
A great service offered is an in-room massage; at about $160 for 50 minutes, they’re not cheap, but it’s a fabulous and convenient option.
There’s no gym here, but guests can use the YMCA free of charge. And this isn’t like the Y in your town, this is the Y they won’t even let you use if you’re a member of another area Y because it’s too good.Recommended for:
