Even with Whole Foods in Hawaii, I miss Trader Joe's. They just have a nicer selection of snacks and products that are way more affordable. Eating healthy shouldn't cost you more, and TJ prices are just right. I love their snacks, I wished they bring it back (dried hibiscus flower fruit). Every trip to the Mainland has to include a couple hours at TJ to stock up on inventory :).

Trader Joe's is really the best grocery store that I've ever been able to frequent. There's just really no comparison to any grocery store, even where I'm currently located (London). If it's your first time going there, I'd suggest trying out a Hansen's soda, getting some brownie bites or chocolate covered peanut butter pretzels, trying their gouda crackers or even buying some 2 buck Chuck.

This Trader Joe's was one of the pathfinders for the Bay Area. I remember TJ's in the Willows (now moved down the Concord road) to be the first. I don't come here much any more as there are branches closer to home. But in the day, newbies such as myself would wander down the aisle with glassy-eyed wonder. Heck, even the often horrible Emeryville traffic in this area or the huge lines insider were no impediment to inexpensive gourmet nervana. Picture in your mind Homer Simpson chanting "Two Buck Chuck"

This Trader Joe's is also next to a Courtyard by Marriott, which was once very handy when I hosted a birthday party sleepover for my son. And if you happen to be gluten intolerant or want Kosher food, any TJ's has a nice selection.
