This review is only for their night happy hour, which is from 4-6 and 9-11, and all night on Tuesdays. Supposedly, the mai tai was invented here back in the day, and during happy hour you can try one of those babies for just $5. They are strong and delicious. I'm not a cocktail girl, but I enjoyed it. Don't make the mistake of ordering one of their fruit mai tais, get the original. Also get the basket of fries for $2.50.
A strong drink and french fries overlooking the Emeryville marina for $7.50! Not bad, Trader Vics, Not bad.

There are a lot of tiki themed places, but while most of them go for kitch, Trader Vic's goes for something like adoration. The bar is frankly beautiful, with tasteful polynesian decoré that may or may not exist in reality.
The food is meat-centric, with fantastic pork offerings. The drinks are created with care and style and beauty.
Overlooking the Emeryville marina, one can almost imagine that they are on the other side of the world.
