I actually didn't make it here until maybe my 4th time in Paris. When I stumbled upon the Latin Quarter I found myself mesmerized by the lights and sounds. It is quintessentially Paris with the vintage feel that you see in movies. Stroll over to a bistro and be French, if only for the evening.

While some people come to the Bastille area without knowledge that the prison itself has been demolished and replaced with just a statue, the area surrounding place de la Bastille is great! The monument itself is beautiful, but take in the surroundings by visiting a crepe stand or going for a drink on Rue de Lappe.

Get something from the little store around the corner from Ma Bourgogne and snack under the tree colonnades and feel a little sophisticated because of the well kept vegetation and the stately apartments all around.

One of my favorite museums in Paris. It's free!...and all in French but with some basics of any romance language you can figure it out. Lots of amazing artifacts, paintings, furniture and rooms that span hundreds of years of French history. The gardens, I'm told, are also lovely, but I've only been in the winter.

Ille Saint Louis is a tiny little island between the Left and Right Bank of the Seine River. There's not too many things to see, but is a nice place to stroll around.

A scientific parc with Greenhouses, many museums such as the national Museum of Natural History, as well as a surraalistic ancient paeontological museum with tons of prehistorical squelettons, another specialized in rocks and gems, a zoo and a variety of gardens.

Depending on the time of year you are in Paris, the Promenade Plantee which sits above the Viaduc des Arts is a lovely garden stroll. If you are traveling with kids you can walk/run through the gardens to a huge park at the end and then stroll the shops on your way back.

If you are looking for a quality place to pub crawl, Rue de Lappe has it all on one street. This small street tucked back behind Place de la Bastille is lined with bars, pubs and clubs, just take your pic! And if you want to venture away from this street, there are many great bars in the surrounding area!

After a stroll in the Jardin des Plants, the Museum of Natural History is a great place to bring kids. There are wonder whale skeletons, mock ups of dinosaurs, and stuffed animals from the African plains. This is a great place to let children practice drawing as well, something the French value greatly as a skill.

Bastille is a long obelisk standing in the center of a wide public square. Where the obelisk stands was once a prison. However, no vestige of it remains.
