I ate there last night with 5 others in anticipation of a group kayaking trip in Italy. We were in training for the culinary challenges of the expedition. We had a terrific dinner. Half of us ordered the family-style meal. They were served plate after plate of amazing pasta dishes. The big hit was the ink calimari pasta. The rest of us got the grilled swordfish which was perfect. Flavorful and not overdone. Our waiter was fantastic, sharing Palermo travel tips. He showed us the family Fiat, and even gave me his parent's phone number in Palermo. He said, give them a call. They'll show you around. I think I'll take him up on that offer.Recommended for:

A solid dining experience. It had been a while since I have been to a restaurant with such genuine and enthusiastic service.
Came here on an early Sat afternoon and all of the tables were already filled. We were offered to seat at the back room special chef's table. It was an amazing evening with great food and good company.
The chef checked up on us a few times and offered us some of his homemade wine. Nice fellow. Made us feel like guests in his house.
Excellent olive oil. Quite a few good pasta dishes. Good place for large group for a nice family style meal.Recommended for:

The olive oil with different spices and garlic is amazing. When I lived in Berkeley I would always pick some up when I needed something to bring to a housewarming or dinner party type thing. This place is cash only fyi and on weekends there is usually a line. They don't take reservations for small groups. Definitely a great restaurant in Berkeley to check out.
