Rent one of their oceanside cabins where you can enjoy a dip in your back deck hot tub looking out what appears to be heaven. The hotel features an incredible spa, fine dining, and an art gallery that features the works of many traditional Hawaiian artists.Recommended for:

The Travaasa resort used to be the Hana Hotel, which was always a family-owned and operated establishment. The grounds are amazing, and I highly recommend a visit when passing through on the drive, even if you are not staying the night. The food is quite simply incredible as most ingredients come from the local farm attached to the property. The Sea Cottages are the way to go if you stay. Enjoy a private hot tub from your balcony with an ocean view.Recommended for:

Magical. This is a must for Maui or Hawaii visitors. The staff are so warm, welcoming and attentive to your needs. Highly recommend the Spa, which is rated number one in Hawaii for the second year. The "locker rooms" is a great place to start with steam room and cold plunge. The complimentary activities are worth checking out: fish net throwing, hula, juicing, smoothie class and yoga.
If you can spring for a Sea Ranch cottage, grab it. The views are endless. Whale watch from your bed.Recommended for:

The Travaasa is my favorite hotel of all time. This place is what people think of when they visualize Maui. There is bright blue ocean, a steady breeze, a palpable health in the land, butterflies and coconut palms. Villas have vaulted ceilings, kitchenettes and huge bathrooms. Indoor and outdoor spaces transition seamlessly. The grand dining area caught my eye and felt like the best place to throw a party I could imagine. Local spirit really comes through here. Our escort, a lifetime resident of Hana was one of the most genuine people I’ve met on the island. The sight of the infinity pool feels like a spiritual experience. Within walking distance is red sand beach and a fun local Thai food stand. A five-minute drive takes you to Hamoa beach. A 20-minute drive gets you to the unforgettable seven sacred pools. Go to Travaasa!Recommended for:

Formerly the Hotel Hana-Maui, this is Hana's only full-service hotel. A hybrid of boutique and luxury hotel styles, you could settle for a room in the main wings, but why not spend just a fraction more for your own ocean-view cottage? Once the day trippers leave Hana, the atmosphere becomes remarkably serene. The hotel's dining room serves the best food around, but you'll pay a lot for it - and sometimes the "gourmet" cachet of the menu gets way overblown.Recommended for:

Immerse yourself in the most breathtaking scenery in the world. Hamoa Beach is the Travaasa's own, and their cabins overlook the crystal blue Pacific Ocean. A place to truly relax.Recommended for:

The only Hotel in Hana offering a cocktail lounge and main dining room. The dining room offers breakfast, lunch and dinner seven days a week. Check out Thursday and Sunday nights at 6:30 for fabulous entertain by local singers and traditional hula dancers. This is the real Hawaii, not Hollywood!
They also offer a full service spa.

Top notch accommodations in Hana. Spring for a private cottage if you can - you get your own private lanai (complete with sunken hot tub) and stunning sunrise views. Warning: no TV, but why would you need it? Also great for dinner or cocktails. The mai tai will knock your socks off!

Travaasa Hana is arguably the best hotel on Maui and well worth the two-three hour drive it takes to get there, which can easily be lengthened depending on how many waterfalls you visit on the way. Hana, misperceived as a city, is really nothing more than a few churches and a gas station, which makes the Travaasa Hana a beacon of light at the end of tunnel (the tunnel being a long and winding road... think of the PCH in Big Sur). From the outdoor reception desk to the infinity pool that overlooks the crashing waves of the Pacific Ocean, this property really sets itself apart from other hotels found on Maui by providing its guests with that true Hawaiian experience, which seems harder and harder to find these days. Yes, the rooms at Travaasa Hana are not as nice as say, the Ritz-Carlton Kapalua or the Grand Wailea, nor does the staff tuck their shirts in, but I swear you will not find a more authentic hotel experience anywhere on Maui. Just ask Patrick, a bell-hop who has worked there since 1984. His entire family has relocated to other parts of the island and some, to the mainland, but he will never leave because to him Hana is Hawaii.
Dining options at Travaasa Hana include a restaurant and a bar/lounge. Room service is available during limited hours. The property hosts a complimentary manager reception. Concierge services and tour assistance are available. Guest parking is complimentary. Additional property amenities include a library, a coffee shop/café, and valet parking.
