The Travel Inn Hotel is really nice located in Hells Kitchen on 42nd street on walking distance from Times Square. The neighbourhood itself is a bit away from all the business of Times Square what's a big plus. Lots of good restaurants nearby. Staff could smile some more, but hey, who cares, you're in New York right? Rooms are good size and there is a free parkinglot in the basement of the hotel. The neighbor is a diner where you can have a fine breakfast for good prices. Would'nt hesitate to book again on my next trip.

While the rooms in this hotel are a bit outdated - carpet flooring, floral bedsheets and the occasional floral curtains - at least the rooms have a bit of walking room and the beds and desks are spread out enough you don't feel like you're staying inside a shoebox. And you can't beat the location. You're really paying for the convenience of being right in Times Square, close to Broadway shows, trains, restaurants and shopping.
Another nice little perk that the Travel Inn offers is a microwave and mini-fridge in their rooms so that you can store your takeout or buy some instant meals if you spent most of your money on shopping and want to pass on eating out, or if you're just too tired to go out and eat. And of course, the pool is great, especially in the summer when you want to cool off.

Definitely a bargain for its proximity to Times Square and the rest of Midtown, this hotel lacks the extravagance of its across the street neighbor (The Out) but still keeps you safe and cozy in its not-to-small space. The outdoor pool is the greatest amenity during hot summer months, when cooling off after a long day of touring is completely necessary. Guest rooms leave room for walking around with luggage, which is a lot to be said for an NYC hotel. All feature flat screen TVs and upper levels offer a view of the city. A small lobby area offers room for reading, but for food and drink you'll have to venture out.
