I didn't think there was anything too bad about this Travelodge. But I also didn't think there was anything too great about it. The lady at the front desk was taking some major heat from the couple in front of me, who got caught trying to both stay there when they had only paid for one person. The receptionist was taking it pretty well considering how rude the couple was being. The room was plain with a fridge and microwave. Breakfast, which is included, is juice, coffee, and doughnuts. Yum! The only big problem for me would be there is no pool, and in El Cajon in the summertime, you NEED a pool. I was sweating just walking from the lobby to the room. On the plus side this hotel is a good deal and is walking distance to the cute part of El Cajon, where all the shopping is. There are also some mom and pop restaurants close by that I bet would be delish! Good location for El Cajon, bad idea having no pool in El Cajon.

The front desk employee made it clear he wasn't particularly thrilled to be there, and the rest of the hotel followed suit. I saw a boarded-up broken window on the side of a room on my way upstairs, and the dilapidated look of my own room made it clear that the broken window was probably not a recent accident. There were burns and stains in the bedspreads, and the shelf by the TV looked like it had been dragged upstairs. Bizarrely enough, the closet was huge, and did at least include a small safe tucked into the corner. If I could fit into the safe I might be more comfortable staying in that hotel. Alas, the terrible upkeep of the room, aside from the somewhat updated (though small) bathroom, makes this hotel one to avoid if possible.
