HTT recently inspected Treetops which has been renovated and now offers ensuite rooms & a new dining room. Outspan is the base hotel for those travelling to Treetops and is set amongst lush gardens, with activities such as coffee plantation tours.
Treetops was Built in 1952 and has long since been a favourite amongst visitors to Kenya for its unusual architecture and setup. Literally a lodge built at the height of the trees, it is an unusual yet exciting way of experiencing the bush & great wildlife.
Treetops Lodge is also famed for its royal connection. In February 1952, a young English girl climbed the fig tree as a Princess. The following morning, she descended as Queen Elizabeth II - her father, King George VI, had died in the night.
The lodge overlooks two waterholes and a salt lick, which attract a number of difference wildlife. There is also a ground level photographic 'hide out' from which guests can get closer views of animals and great photos of elephants & even lions. If luck is on your side and it's a clear day, you can get a glimpse of Mount Kenya.
